Have to disagree on this one. You can check the supermarket prices at residential areas for a quick comparison. Prices of daily necessities are generally cheaper and offer more quality compared to SG. Of course this would be true if the exchange rate is quite bad.

Lodging is quite affordable if you dont stay in city area. If you watch the TV show before and after, you can have a sense on how cheap reno costs are. For the whole house, 2-3 storeys could revolve around 20-30k only!! Not to mention custom-made furniture.

IME, Japan is way cheaper than I thought. I factored in ¥10k (per person) per day for living, but I always end up spending less, even without being frugal.

2 recent cases of boxing demonstrations in Singapore train / train stations after some stare exchanges.

Agreed :s13:

Yes, there were also alot more pleasant encounters than the 2 isolated incident so no, nothing really to hate about Japan.

yes... their local produces are very cheap... and very good quality...

my sis built a 3storey house in japan... costs abt 600K including the land... i think is freehold... i would not say everything is custom made though... they have standard template but can customize everything... it only take them abt 4 months to complete... best part is during the building process... the contractor will upload weekly progress and photos of the site to a website for owners to keep track...

not to mention their bank loan is dirt cheap... less than 1%...

Can get a meal for S$3 in Japan ?

Fruits cheaper ? Transport cheaper? :o

I am more of herbivore, mostly say no to sashimi .
And most Japanese meals have no decent amount of vegetables.
Ridiculous combination of noodle + rice + meat/fish = healthy meal ?
I ended up always have to top up my meals there with supermarket salad & fruits every night.

Weird that you found Japanese fruits (local produces ) very cheap .
A bowl of ramen 800-1200 Yen ‘cheap’ .

Compare Tokyo property prices with Singapore CCR.
Mostly wooden homes verses concrete homes here.

Singapore home loan rate is not that high.
They almost get nothing / negative in saving account in return .

not sure if u visited their non-city areas markets... their fruits and vegetables are cheap... quality to quality wise... is no fight...

we might not be able to find $3 hawker food there... but restaurants to restaurants comparison... i find theirs a lot cheaper... you can find set meals with drinks, main course, desserts for 800-1000 yen...

their wooden house can withstand 7-8 scale earthquake... can singapore concrete house guarantee? got MRT construction next door u can see crack in your house liaoz... japan can built houses using japanese native labourers and material and can built in short time... singapore built houses using cheap bangalas and cheap china material... already cost u a leg and arm...

and i am just talking abt loan rates above... why save money in banks when interest rates are low... they probably park their money in stocks or other investments...

oh yah... and is u... i know i know... singapore best... OK?

I was told in Japan (like those you mention about land+house). They need to rebuild every 50 years (may be 30-40 years).

That's due to strong S$ vs actual living standard.

This point is valid. I have seen cheap fruits too btw. like 500yen for a HUGE box of strawberries, grapes at around the same price. If you want banana, pineapple, watermelon, of course more ex coz is imported what.

and cheapest meal I have eaten is like around 300yen? you said hawker food right? Even the cheapest meal at hawker center is $3.50 these days. haven't include drink. Drinks are ALWAYS free in Japan no matter where I go. could be water, could be green tea, but its free.

erm, you do know that their loan rates are lower right? and also their houses are cheaper. No need to stay in city. 30 mins out of city can see the price differential alr. And their homes may be made of wood. but in an earthquake, it still stands.

transport more ex that one we cannot fight.

fruits explained above, food same.

5-6 bucks can get a filling bowl. vegetables also have. just need to order when you order the food.

and isn't it good? you pay slightly more than sg, but can eat full full. In sg I add here, add there, still cannot fight the size japan offers.

Saw it being constructed & read about it :
Many landed homes in Japan only come with lower part in concrete & other wooden .
Apparently this is to withstand earthquakes.

By when tsunamis & typhoons hit .........

Singapore price should be compared with those in Tokyo/ Osaka .
The prices of the food , fruits & properties , no ?

You are like :
...,expect Mao Shan Wang to cost the same either in the Malaysian farms , small Johor town markets or Singapore .
Cheaper when the fruits are in seasons especially from their own Japan farms .

There are S$2 chicken rice & nasi lemak here. My cai png with 3-5 vegetables are $3.50-$4 mostly here.
And show me which parts of Tokyo / Osaka can 300 Yen meals .

A Japanatic & ‘Japan is perfect ‘ mentality.
Travel more to Japan, read more & watch more NHK .
Everything is best in Japan & Singapore is bad.

For sure you have not heard about the Kobe Earquake with its 2011 Tohoku tsunami , Fukushima nuclear accident & recent typhoons.
And believe so many of the deaths are not the fault /delay by the Japanese staff .
Lol

oh yah... and is u... i know i know... singapore best... OK?
