Hi everyone

Currently i am looking to upgrade my current GPU which is a GTX 980. Does anyone have any recommendation? Planning to use the GPU to render 2K Resolution at 144Hz. Was thinking of getting a 1080ti but not sure if it will be an overkill for it, also concern if using an i7 4790k CPU will bottleneck it

well its not overkill and its the right choice though, cos i think GTX 1080 with 2k @144hz might be taking a toll unless maybe settings at high instead of ultra.

bottleneck won't be that visible unless u are playing games that is CPU intensive.

GTX 1080 ti is the way to go.

No, i7-4790K is very very good still. Comparable, if not better, to modern day i5-8400 and Ryzen 2600 in gaming performance.

Oh, and if you can wait till end of the year, then gtx 11 series is coming this year :) just saying.

If you can wait, prices might drop further especially with impending arrival of next gen cards. Because Nvidia has high inventory after crypto currency mining slump.

1080ti is perfect for 1440p whether it can sustain at 144, depends on the games. Your i7 will be sufficient unless your games benefit from more than 4 physical cores.

2560x1440, you can easily get between 120-150fps depending on most games. For Ultrawide 3440x1440, you will get anywhere between 90-120fps. I owned both so that was my result.
