Is it my MB need to change also? Sorry I am noob. Specs >>>

I don’t mind change MB to future proof it though.

I don’t overclock. Just need a better CPU for a game that I play casually that’s CPU intensive.

What would you guys recommend? Looking at Intel. Thanks!!

You can consider Ryzen 3300X + MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX. The CPU should be available next month. Total cost around S$360.

The MB is ATX. If you want to stick to ITX, there is the ASUS ROG Strix B450-I Gaming. Total should be around S$400.

Budget for MB+CPU maybe $500-600

Reason for Intel only because I heard Ryzen one excels more due to more cores but the CPU intensive game which I play.. won’t be able to take advantage of it.

So my current MB too old liao must change in order to fit new CPU is it? Thanks!!

I think at this point of time very hard for mb to future proof, look at amd, current socket is am4 and next gen cpu(4000) is the last gen to support am4 socket.
As for intel, they are transiting to a new socket, and probly only support at most 2 to 3 gen cpu.
This is the marketing strategy that cpu companies have to do in order to get more customer to buy their product

Oh I read that 3300x single core performance is on par or slightly better than i7-7700.

Amazing and so affordable.

Not well versed between ATX/ITX :D

All I know my casing v small because I dislike big tower cases. So likely stick with ITX mobo.

Now deciding between 3300/3600.. and whether to wait for B550 mobo or just grab B540 series. I dunno about PCIE-4 thingie too :s13:

now is a bad time to buy pc parts, especially since many big releases are coming soon like ryzen 4k and covid bumping prices of everything up.

if u can tahan, wait for 4k announcement then see what is available. if not, can get 3300x since u did not mention any workstation purpose for ur pc, only gaming. as for mobo, need to see whether u will be looking to upgrade to ryzen 4k. if u are, can get x570/b550 (when it comes out), but not worth imo since u already just bought a new 3300x. otherwise, b450 is still ok but need to be sure u get a ryzen 3k ready mobo.

as for pcie4, if storage speed is not a priority then no need to worry. currently the only real use for it is super fast nvme.

yes like others saying here 3300x is amazing. for your budget Ryzen is now the best value.

you can stick to getting 3300x or 3600 but i sugggest to hold your MB purchase for now until B550 is officially launched.

now is bad time for upgrading as new tech is upcoming before Q4 2020.

Thanks for the replies so far. I appreciate it!!

Let’s say if I bite the bullet some time soon for 3600/3600X, which B450 mini ITX mobo would you all suggest?

Just toying with the idea.. and Q4 really still quite far away.

You also need new rams, assuming yours are capped at 2133 Mhz.
