Thinking of upgrading my rig

hi all,

current rig is on the right --->

i built this rig back in 2014 and it was considered(?) the budget rig then.

may i know roughly whats the budget rig now based on my needs below? i jus quickly glanced through the forum and saw that i can buy a ryzen 2400 and save up on a gpu card?

No OC needed.

basically, my daily use would be as follows:
- running dual monitor setup (2 HDMI. 60HZ)
- programming/multi-task alot of window
- games: Dota 2, bluestacks emulator

Parts i could reuse:
- Dual monitor
- SSD+HDD
- PSU? 550W still enough?
- Ram (my 4 sticks are all DDR3. depends i guess?)
- OS (i can still use my oem win7 cd on a diff mobo right?)
- DVD thing

Parts to change:
- Mobo,CPU,GPU (depends on whether im using ryzen?)
- Casing (mayb smaller than an ATX. find it too big)

Budget: mayb around $700~

I think Haswell is still good to go. Some more the RAM prices now are nuts, you can't re-use your DDR3 RAM.

I recently got Ryzen+MB+RAM to replace my old rig, cost me $700++ after all the discounts on Lazada.

If you're looking @ DotA 2 for 1080p Ultra High settings, then you probably won't get 60FPS with just Ryzen 2400G. If you run at Medium, then ya probably can get your 55-60FPS average.

Do note that this setup was with 2x8GB 3200MHz. If you're running 2x 4GB 2666MHz, do expect a lower FPS compared to this.

Not exactly. If you really need it right now to play any games, go ahead, upgrade. Although GPU prices are coming down, some shops at SLS is still over-charging them.

And if you can wait for another 3 months or so, wait for the next generation nVidia GPUs, rumored to launch around July.

hmmm, then will there be any bottleneck issues between my cpu (i5-4460) and 1060? if there is, then i guess the bout-to-be released nvidia gpu wont fit my rig then

CPU Bottleneck don't only depends on CPU. It also depends on how the game utilize the CPU, the Quality and Resolution of the game too.

Even at 1080p, a GTX 1060 will not be bottlenecked by your CPU in most games.

between the zotac, palit, galax and msi

Best bang for bunk should be zotac,palit and galax as they are one of the cheapest. All gtx1060 3gb are more less the same, more expensive model from asus and MSI charges a higher premium for the slightly overclock speed, slightly better cooler and the GPU design in general.
550w is more than enough for a single gtx1060, if that 550w PSU is a good unit and not those cheap China ones

Go with zotac if u want long warranty.
Go with Galax for white outlook.
Lastly go witg the brand distro bring in, so that u re staying quite near.

Is zotac 5 year warranty worth it? Msi galax exoc white is still quite high though. What is the advantage of exoc white actually other than nicer look and better cooling?

Still quite high mainly due to miners and etc. All I remember was palit($329), zotac mini ($299) , Galax ($329) back in the days when gpu prices is still normal. Where else MSI and Asus are going at least $400+
