i am impress with your patient having reading through the whole thread!!! you certainly are one of the "rare" one. on a serious note, it hard to find people with such patient. anyway, i just a balding dude, far away from been an expert but i try to answer your questions the best i can.
1) No, i am no longer using emu oil and retin A as i am trying other stuffs. out of these 2, most likely i will only get on retin A.
2) you apply emu oil to scalp. in the study of emu oil, they need to apply it 3times per day for the result. you can just leave it on your scalp for 20-30mins before washing off. but i find apply oil and so many time per day a big put off. but if you can do that, i think emu oil is certainly helpful in a way for MPB.
3) apply Retin-A to scalp. there are cases of very bad reaction to retin-A. so start slowly and build-up over time. Retin-A have been show to work on it own but it merit come with using together with minoxidil. but again, take this treatment easy.
4) nothing much to say about proscar. you better get on it if your hairloss is due to MPB. it the base of treating MPB unless you are getting side effect. there are also others unproven method to reduce androgen effect on hair if that the case.
5) due to a recent release of rogaine foam study, there is alot of doubt whether does it work better then the liquid version. so i will suggest sticking with the liquid version as most likely it work better and cheaper unless you are sensitive to PPG.
6) Miconazole Nitrate can be get rather cheap in most pharmacy. it an anti-fungal cream you can pick up on the shelf. remember this is rather experiment. so use it with caution although MN cream is rather safe use. dillute it with a some water when using.
7) Pil food?(??? what that???)
8) zinc supplement does not stop hairloss unless your hairloss is due to lacking of this mineral which is unlikely in modern diet. it a cheap supplement and if there is a need, just get those with 15mg per day. it help in overall health too.
9) from experience and what i read, shampoo does very little for hair loss but it still important as part of your treatment. some shampoo still have pretty good science behind it. Generic nizoral is cheap($10 for 120ml) and you only need it twice a week so i see no reason not using it unless it give you side effect like i experience. i got big chunk of skins dropping of my scalp while using it over the years although i wonder why i didn't link it to nizoral. after switching to PTO shampoo, my scalp condition is alot better. PTO shampoo is say to work better then nizoral although it have less backing. i just use loreal anti-dandruff shampoo which cost a cheap $10 for 400ml since i know most shampoo does very little for hairloss. sodium laurel is pretty safe for daily use so don't worry too much.
hope it help. cheers.
