Thank you Isopropyl. Yap...me getting Minoxidil + propecia for abt $160/mth. $98 for propecia & $58 for glower 5%..

Are all minoxidil spary the same??( rogaine, glower, minoxi5 etc.) They all have the same effectiveness right? What are the places to get minoxi5 easily?? Seem like minoxi5 is the cheapest and most worth it har??

Seem like some suggested that is not adviseble to divide proscar into 5-8parts to save money ???
Heard tat you get presciption from CGH doctor and got minoxi5(80ml) for $37.80 and proscar for $112.50??. Is it the doctor who precribe you with all the treatment for your hairloss???

here is a small study that saw palmetto might work tropically. it is a small study and not much value but at least it indicate that saw palmetto might help.
http://www.truestarhealth.com/members/archives.asp?id=14ml3p1a7

RU58841 is not a abortion pill. it a french company drug that is not out to the market yet so there is no way anyone can get it except making some on their own. it is only being use tropically so it might not cause impotency. no one know for sure. maybe that one reason why it not on sales. haha... but hope not.

Hey, the study did not mention where it was published. The result could be big news if true. But the lotion will need carrier agents to penetrate the skin.

Maybe I misunderstood, cos that is a RU something drug that was popular in the bodybuilding circle about 10 years was an abortion pill. Believe it or not it was purported to extent lifespan.

Till now, for MPB no breakthrough, best bet still finasteride. Surprisingly no one focus on sodium or try to get some clues from there.

you seem to be paying a bit more for your propecia. i got mine for $90 last time.

all minoxidil lotion is the same with some different in non-active ingredient which will make no different in how effective in the product. yes, i got my minoxi5 from CGH with presciption for $37.80. you also can get it without prescription at some graudian for $57.75. CGH do not have proscar so i got it from NTUC unity pharmacy.

i got prescrpition from a clinic near my place. most doctor know very little about hair loss treatment and if you can explain to them on the rational of proscar, they will prescript it to you. anyway, i can see that my doctor in his early 30s is losing hair too. haha...

i read the same thing about proscar too. some people said they are getting better result from propecia and all type of funny theory. but at the same time, lots of people are also getting good result from proscar too. so i doubt it is really true that proscar are not effective when divided. the evident that proscar work as well as propecia is overwhelming. so don't worry too much.

So are we able to get propecia or proscar from NTUC unity pharmacy without any prescription?? You get yprescription for minoxi5 which cost only $37.8 at CGH. SO about from this amount, do you have to apy for consultation or other services?? Don't mind i ask what regime are you using now and how is the effect??:).

As for proscar....is difficult to divide to the equal portion we want right???

the abortion pill you mention should be RU-486.

you are right. sadly, little or no progress are make for the last 10years. treatment remain mostly the same. although promising treatment like hair cloning, gene therapy etc are been research now, they are not going to be available or affortable for most people any time soon.

no. you need a prescription to get proscar. i got the prescription for both proscar and minoxidil for a total of $5. as i mention in my previous post, you can ask you doctor to prescript 3bottles on one go which should last you 4months to save on the prescript fee and time from travelling to CGH. one box of proscar should last you 5months if you divide it into 5parts. it not really difficult to divide. you get use to it after a few pills. use those old style razor blade should be fine.
splitproscar6bj.jpg

my regime is similar to yours. at most it only slow down my hair loss. using minoxidil for only 2months so can't comment on it yet.
proscar 1/5 every day.
minoxidil 5% x 2 per day.
Nizoral 2% x 3 time per week.
coal tar and salicylic acid shampoo x 3time per week.

i will be adding "Zix" lotion and apple cider vinegar with cayenne pepper sometime soon.

using propecia for 1year plus. most guardian carry minoxi5. not all pharmacy have it. i am in my mid-20s.

normal washing of hair won't cause your hair to fell if it won't mean to drop. so don't worry about it. even people without hairloss problem will still see hair dropping daily. it part of the cycle. if you don't wash it, it will still drop. the different is that the hair that drop without washing is dirty.

just do your best and leave the result to itself. try not to concentrate too much. this cause you want to hide your baldness and make you looking very insecure. don't worry too much on things that you can't control. try to make your life productive and happy. people who go with the flow is much more happy and confidence in life. i accept any result i have yet i not giving up without a good fight. i am still attracting girls after shaving my hair more than many of my friends with good look and full head of hair. it about your confidence. and No, i don't own a car. i travel with BMW (bus, MRT and walking).

no problem pal. anyway, happy new year to all!!!

there are a number of treatment that i am looking into. most need prescription so it not easy or cheap to use. two thing that you might find helpful.

1) Zix - quite a number of people reported some result with the solution. check the link for more details.
http://www.advinfoprod.com/hair_loss_treatment_1.htm

2) Apple cider vinegar (ACV) and cayenne pepper.
ACV have been use for danduff and to improve overall scalp health. cayenne pepper is a good inflammatory agent and seen to help hair loss.

Effect of Coapplication of Capsaicin and Minoxidil on the Murine Hair Growth
Won-Soo Lee, Hyung Jin Ahn, Young Hee Kim
Department of Dermatology. Yonsei University Wonju College of Medicine, Wonju. Korea

Capsaicin induces the release of substance P(SP) which is believed to play an important role in murine hair growth and cycle. Minoxidil, the only approved topical hair drug having direct hair growth effect, has therapeutic limitation because it stimulates mainly vellus hair regrowth, not thick coarse terminal hairs. So, we hypothesize that combined use of capsaicin and minoxidil may exert positive effects in terms of hair growth than minoxidil alone. We evaluated the effects of coapplication of capsaicin and minoxidil on the hair growth and cycle, compared with application of capsaicin or minoxidil alone. We induced the anagen phase of the hair of back skin of ICR mice by depilation. We divided the mice into 4 groups, i.e., control group, capsaicin group, minoxidil group, and coapplied group. And then, we examined the hair growth macroscopically, and the percentage of the area of hair regrowth by image analysis using phototrichogram at the 0, the 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, 25th, and 30th day. Also we examined the morphologic changes of hair follicles and subcutis, and the number of mast cells by microscopy, andmethyl-3Hthymidine uptake by scintillation counter. In this study, we observed that capsaicin can not only induce the anagen phase quickly, but also sustain constant effect on the linear hair growth. Minoxidil also induced the anagen phase fast, and prolonged the anagen phase of the hair cycle. Therefore, it is concluded that the coapplication of capsaicin and minoxidil can grow hair quickly and steadily.

Anyone enjoyed success while using biolyn defense shampoo together with minoxidil5% + propecia?? Will biolyn shampoo interfere with the function of minoxidil + propecia ???

What are the improvement we can see intially after using minoxidi??? I have used minoxidil 5% for ard 1 mth and apart from the hairs get slightly thicker, the amount of hair loss is same as before....Think have to be more patient will the results har.....??? I need to gain more confident 1st before i am willingly to commit to a life long treatment with them....( Cos very expensive...abt $150/mth)

Current regime:

Propecia 1 mg/day
Minoxidil 5 % 1ml x 2times/day
Nizoral 2% 3time/week ( This shampoo seem to cause me to loss more hair lo....:(......)
Pregaine gel shampoo 4 times/week

be patient lar.......minoxidil takes from 2-4 mths b4 u can see noticable results.....u go cut skin head then u have to wait for few mths b4 ur hair will grow back to visible length rite? this is no elixir lar........u cant expect results in just 1 mth of usage.......if u are shedding hair in the initial stages of using minoxidil then its normal........this is a renewal process when ur old, dead hair falls off to be replaced by new healthy hair.......one advice is to stop using minoxidil if u dont see any improvements after ard 7-8mths.

basically u can only find 5% minox in singapore....but apprantly other countries have 15% versions but its home brew.......not very common.........only produced by a couple of companies........u mentioned the high cost of using both minox n proscar....i can suggest that if u find minox 5% effective, u can consider subsituting the 5% to 3 or 2% versions as a form of maintainence.......u dont have to continually stick to the 5%.......or well u can be like me.....buy the generic versions of 5% off the net..........they are dirt cheap......another thing........u mention u also using biolyn shampoo..how much does it cost? if its more than $20 then i recommend that u chunk it n get nizoral 1% instead.........use it 3 times a wk or u can try the 2%(use 2 times per wk).

don't have to massage it. just use your finger to spread it out to affected area. it will soak into your scalp itself.

one study show that Nizoral 1% version work as well as the 2% version. both grow hair equal to minoxidil 2%. the 1% version have a conditioner and don't dry your hair as much as the 2% version. the only reason i am using the 2% version is i found that it reduce itch better.

hair shed due to working of treatment will not last too long. normally a couple of week or so. after that, a few weeks later you should be able to notice slowing of hair loss.

anyway, how much hair did you drop during shower? normally i will have 10 or more hair drop. even my brothers who is not experience hair loss are dropping hair when bathing. infact, my mum said that she found more hair in my brothers room than mine yet i the only one experience serious hair loss. yeah, i the unlucky one.

a uncle from another forums got my attention for Alpecin shampoo. it a caffeine shampoo that suppose to help hairloss. the uncle claim that it stopped his hairloss while proscar and minoxidil did nothing. i did a search and there are quite a number of positive review on this shampoo. further more, i found out they have a distro in singapore which make it easier to buy. i called them up and they direct me to a shop near my place. this is the number to call if you are interested. 67463688. i am going to give it a try. it should cost around $13.80 for the shampoo. not sure how much is the ASL (after shampoo lotion)

ultimatesg, what your take on this product?

disclaimer: just to add on that i am in no way related to this company. i am not advertising for any company. just sharing something that might be helpful to those who suffer from hairloss. Mod, feel free to edit if you think i am advertising.

some update. went to get the Alpecin caffeine shampoo just now. that place is loaded with salon so took sometime to find that shop. once i reached, the aunty keep asking me to do scalp treatment, buy hair tonic, other shampoo etc which i rejected. in the end, she quoted me $18 for the shampoo!!! i told her the person that recommended me told me it only $13.80. in the end, she agree to sell me at $13.80 but keep asking me who told me about this shampoo. i just told her i got to know it online.

anyway, back to the shampoo. for $13.80, you will get 250ml worth of shampoo which should last 2-3months if using once daily. my first impression is it don't smell anything like coffee. infact, it smell like man's body spray. the smell is pretty good. at least i won't end up smelling like breakfast. the shampoo is a clear blue solution which should counter the pink nizoral 2% that is turning me into gay :s13: the shampoo lather up pretty well and my scalp felt cool as it contain menthol. the recommendation is to leave it on for 2mins before raising off. after washing off the shampoo, my scalp felt quite good due to the menthol.

Hope new hair will gorw from those fall out spots.... Emmm,... During shower will drop around 20-30 strands. Every morning ard 15-20 stands, During the day to evening ard 15-20 strands. So add up to abt 60-70 strands hair drop per day.... Although is within the normal range...i never experience so much hairloss before ever seen my schooling time. As my hair is thnning fast, 60+ per day is no more normal to me..... Hope the Alpecin shampoo work for you and update us on the results...:). By the way, is your problem very serious or just started not long??? Or is already very obvious...???
