does those hair restoration centres work?

an e.g is this

http://laofoyehair.com

really tempted to try it out :(:(

I would re-phrase the question and ask "Does those hair restoration centres work for you?"

Even Propecia and Minoxidil which are FDA-approved cannot achieve a sure-win formula. These hair restoration centres have to have a certain success rate to sustain its business, but that doesn't mean that it will work out for everyone. If Beijing 101 works for Tom, Dick and Harry, it still doesn't mean it will work for you and me.

The only way to find out is to try it for yourself. :)

Yo, I've booked an appt with NSC and will go in 2 weeks time. Is it better to get a Snr consultant? I went to the polyclinic to get a referral so Im not sure if the doc will do a thorough examination. Im not using minoxidil but I heard its proven to work too. Might ask the doc for it. As for Propecia, Ive been using for like 1.5 mths and somehow I think the hairdrop rate has increased. So Im pass the 3-6 weeks shedding period. My frd who's been using it said he shedded like 3 mths and started to see hair growth from 6 mths onward.

Now, Im not sure if i still wanna continue with the other treatment that Im having. Its just apply amplue, massage, using special shampoo. Applying amplue doesnt seem to work at all.

Im like you, the hair stylist used to say my hair grows too fast and was thick but now.....

I just hope the doc at NSC can tell me what is causing my balding.

Sounds great. :) I believe the consultants at NSC are competent enough to diagnose your hair loss pattern, they're specialists after all. Just make sure you present your case to your consultant, provide your hair loss background and be inquisitive if you have any doubts.

The 'shedding' period vary for individuals, but if there's persistent hair loss 4-5 months into your intake, then you should halt your treatment. Do remember that hair normally grow approximately 0.5cm/month, it will take time before you see any visual results. So be patient with your treatments and don't be too quick to judge (unless you develop side effects).

What is the active ingredient ampule? I haven't heard of it before.

BTW, did you check if your maternal grandpa has balding problem?

have u guys actually tot that it might be yr diet?

Diet, sleep, stress, metabolism, activity rate, heredity, (i can go on but you get the drift), all of these factors play a role. But not a single factor can explain hair loss directly.

What we can do is to try as much as possible to do everything right, and hope for the best. Ultimately, if the hair fall continues even if you eat right, sleep right, exercise right, stress-free, take propecia, use minoxidil, then you can only suck thumb or choose to go for hair transplant.

I just went to my GP yesterday regarding my apprently increased hairloss when taking propecia, he said it shouldnt drop but its safe to take till my appt with NSC. I guess I will stick to his words rather than those saloon aunties who asked me to stop for the time being.

As for the ampule, Im not sure of the active ingredients as its not stated. Just that its made from France. The ampule doesnt seem to be working for me. I will pour out everything regarding my hair from what I use, what I eat etc when Im at the NSC haha.

As for ED, I had experienced being more than usual initially too. But perhaps due to stress and disappointment of my increased hairloss and the saloon auntie giving me conflicting feedback on propecia, i dun feel as horny now. It's like 1.5mths+ since I began propecia.

And also, just some words of encouragement for balding guys like us. Ever since I noticed my balding problem, I've been more observant of guys around me. Many are balding as well so dun feel so sad. Some are not even bothered by it so why should we? I keep telling myself that too. Life still goes on. If treatment dun work, just stop and use ur money on something better. Like pampering urself. Imagine the money you could use to buy that electronic gadget!

I've spoke some of my better gal frds and all felt that its a guy's thing to go bald just a matter of time. On the contrary, my guy frds, some are fearful like me. So I feel that gals will still accept us even if we bald, its just a guy's thing.

As a mattar of fact, we are judged by our appearance first.
But wat to do, life goes on like you say.

I am considering putting on a wig if it is good and can style wan.. hahhaha
Treating it as external accessories rather than an embarrassment..

Dunno how wig technologies has advanced so far..

Hmm, I suppose the support from ur family, frds and colleagues play a great part. My hair can still cover my scalp but I dunno how I will react if one day I receive comments that my scalp can be seen. But I must accept it.

Wont putting on a wig look fake? I dunno how my colleagues will react when they see a balding man having hair the next day. What if it comes off during work? Wont it be more 'ma-lu'? Mayb shaving bald is better and get a goatee. Sigh...I have to shave daily, y cant my facial hair drop instead of the hair on my crown haha

But how to wear wig when u r like almost botak? The wig will fall off the scalp? If there's really such a wig that looks so real and wont fall off easily, I want it even at high cost.

It is normal to lose confidence particularly at the beginning stage of hair loss. You start feeling insecure knowing that something bad has happened to you, and there seems no one who can understand what you're going through. And naturally, attention will be turned to the hair on people's heads, trying to spot their scalps and reassure yourself that you are normal. After all, it always feels better knowing there's someone to "die" with you, rather than "dying" alone, right? Haha. =:p

I think you will need to garner courage to face reality that you are suffering from hair loss before all your peers. Only in doing so, you will regain your confidence and shrug aside the psychological barrier that makes you a lesser person you actually are. I will share my boring story with you:

It was depressing and scared the hell out of me initially. I was only 21 when my hair loss started. I was thinking why am i so unfortunate and start imagining becoming a laughing stock amongst my friends for balding. It was like a nightmare and i'm living one! I had almost totally lost all confidence in myself. And it took me a year to realise that i'm really weird, i'm afraid that my friends will blow my cover. I start to feel worried when they start conversations on hair, or make jokes about balding guys. I wasn't feeling natural at all! Then i had a serious thought about myself and wonder if what matters more? My appearance or my character? And this is seriously a no-brainer.

And then i took the dive, and revealed to my friends that i'm actually suffering from hair loss. Guess what? My friends said it wasn't noticeable, and i still had to convince them that i was really having the condition. In the end, they offered to help ask around for treatment solutions, etc. Looking back, i'm really glad i shrugged off the psychological barrier off me. Now, when someone spots my bald patches on my head, i will just admit that i am indeed balding, not too bothered anymore.

But that doesn't mean i have given up on my hair! My take on hair loss is simple, accept it, try and improve it (seek treatment), and hope for the best (stay positive). :)

Try treatment first, give yourself time and the treatment a chance. If it doesn't happen for you *touchwood!*, then let me in on it. My friend has a contact for wigs, and from what the person said, you can even do sports with it! :s31:

Same for xpiggyx, if you're keen on getting it, i can find the contacts for you.

ps. This wig-seller is also patronized by mediacorp actor Yao Wen Long. :)

Im trying to be optimistic. Luckily that my colleagues are ok type. Just that those Im not closed with might point out that Im balding. So its a big challenge on that part. I dun wanna be sad always just becoz Im balding.

Im 32 and u r 20s? We still have a long way to go. U dun wanna be sad always right. But then now I have not shave botak so I dunno the full blow yet haha.

Ya I agree with u. But there's so many treatments out there, we wont know which is really useful except the clinically proven one and it might not work too. When i told my GP abt the saloon treatment, he told me that only propecia and mino are proven to work. He didnt sound approving abt those saloon treatment. I think I will just visit a chinese sinseh and use it with western med.

Too many types of treatments out there give me info overload. 1 will tell u propecia is not good and yet the other might say it otherwise. Sometimes really dunno who to believe.

i think if wanna use wig must use eariler coz if ppl can see that u r balding today and the next u got hair, its damn obivious hahaha.

I have an idea..

Why not think like this..
We can be open in wearing wig and not embarrassed in telling people you are actually wearing a wig. (for fun ?)
There isn't a need to wear it every now and then ma.. treat it like a cap.. you wear it whenever you feel like it. It is just something that makes us feel good look good. I won't wear it at work though. I don't think this is not self-denial. The stigma of being bald (those never shave one) is very turn off to me. If it is a turn-off to me, it is a turn-off for other people. I rather have people see me shave, with a cap to cover or a wig? hahha..

I am in my mid-twenties. I want to look good. If there is wig that are fashionable, flexible and reliable, i will shave and wear it. Some people just cannt make it with a shaved head, i'm one of them.
