Im wondering wat tests does nsc do to determine the cause of hairloss? any1?

im currently seeing SGH specialist (dermatologist) for acne. My acne have improved alot. Do they do the same tests too as nsc?

Yeah. It doesn't work. And that 'detailed scalp analysis' will turn into a hard sell session designed to part all your hard-earned money from you.

There are only 4 medically recognised treatments for male pattern hair loss:

1. Minoxidil lotion applied to the scalp.

2. Finasteride (Propecia) - an oral medication.

3. Hair transplant.

4. Electro stimulation of the scalp - a very recently recognised treatment. I believe that this treatment is only available in Singapore at one clinic in Camden Medical Centre. So be prepared to pay through the nose.

The derm will first browse thru your scalp and see the pattern of your hairloss, see if got scalp problems (i.e. infections, etc) and blood test may be ordered to check for hormonal imbalance, iron level, etc.

Then, you may be prescribed medications such as minoxidil, shampoo, etc.. and ordered to go and have some pics taken (probably to track your progress with the medication).

You go back a 1-4 weeks later for your blood test results and dependent on the results and your gender, you may be prescribed more minoxidil (higher dosage).

Minoxidil works only when you are on it. I tried for 6 months.. A drastic improvement after showering.. BUT when I stopped using for 2 weeks, hair seems began to drop and seemed like the number of hair drop is worse than before.

Currently on this brand Rene Furterer (pre-shampoo treatment + shampoo + hair tonic). Improvement is gradual and slower, compared to minoxidil.

Pros:
1. When I stopped using Rene Furterer for close to 2 months, the side effects are not as bad as Minoxidil.
2. Is made up of essential oils, etc. So, its probably not as harmful as compared to minoxidil.
3. Realised some hair growing after 6 months of continued use.
4. Side effects not as bad when ceased usage.

Cons:
1. Effects slower.
2. Much more expensive than Minoxidil.

1 of my frds and 1 cousin had hair transplant, but not from Eileen Tan.

Cost between $5 to $18 per follicle, with a minimum number of follicles (think its between 1000 to 1500 follicles if I remember correctly).

Results looks good. Fuller hair. But think not everyone are suitable for hair transplant.

Ya, you saw the news yesterday? This Taiwanese woman jian fei until went bald ****. Low consumption of protein can lead to hair loss.

It's true. what you eat is reflected on your skin, nails and hair. Hair need protein and nutrients in order to grow well and if that Taiwanese woman diet so much, of course there wouldn't be anything to help her hair grow well. I went for a trial session at Svenson and my consultant advise me to eat more protein rich food coz my hair is very weak. Like plants what. No fertilizers, very hard to grow well after a while.

better check with your doc on the arrangement with your co. hairloss typically not covered.

I think you should try consulting your doctor they should be able to help. Try eating a lot more fruits and vegatables and drink plenty of water.
