just minoxidil......about 3 years now

hey, do you remb when you started using was there the initial shedding stage?
I started using about 3-4 wks ago and seems like these recent days there is a bit of more shedding. I did a search on the internet and it's normal the shedding is for regrowth of hair later? Did you experience anything similar?

Is yours the fluid or the foam form?
So you apply religiously everyday to the front hairline area?

I'm starting to lose lots of hair recently especially during shower. Almost 30-40 hairs, including lots of hair in my room. Its normal to lose 100-200 hairs a day but if its not regrowing, that will be a concern. Its quite obvious because i take daily photos of my scalp and can see areas where hair is thinning. Its weird though, the right side is thinner than the other. Probably how my hair grows. *this is over a period of 2 years monitoring i did.

I've spent lots of time reading through forums and reviews and will be trying out the following:

1) Rogaine minoxidil foam 5%. Order came today and started using. it gives the hair a dry feeling and quite stiff.
2) DS Laboratories Revita High Performance Hair Growth Stimulating Shampoo + conditioner. Order came today and trying it together with item 1. Nice smell and refreshing feel to the scalp. I love it.
3) Supplements- Still finding out more. Currently considering hairomega or GNC Ultra norish hair.

The above are hopefully preventive measures for further hairloss and keep what remaining hair i have. :)

I want to avoid taking oral medication as much as possible. Nevertheless if the above doesnt work, propecia will be the next step.

However, i tell myself, there are super rich guys out there but they are still not able to prevent balding(ex, prince william). An average monthly salary guy like me wont stand a chance.

Based on rough calculation at the speed of my hairloss. I guess another 3-4 years when i'm 32, the balding signs will be very obvious. If i'm mentally ready, skinhead and no more worries :) But currently still very depress :(

Anyone who has medical advise from a dermatologist, please do share some tips.

i cant remeber if there was initial shedding.....like i mentioned, it maintains further shedding and dont really work on regrowth. mine is the lotion type Minoxi 5 bought from Guardian. i applied twice daily on 1/2 the recomended dosage each time. i dont see any diff in 1ml or 0.5ml doses. i used propecia before i started minoxidil and the results were obvious. there were growth but they costs too much.

Why is there no good effective solution to hair loss!

Because its the nature. U asking this question is like asking " why not sunny day every day"? Even though we do have raining days.

I believed it is god will to push man to higher level as I noticed balding men are more hardworking and many of them are successful. Maybe due to their un desired phsical outlook, they work harder than the not balding men to have desirable filled wallets
