Hi, will this setup work fine for gaming and media consumption (youtube/1080p videos)? Hoping to overclock the gpu in future.

CPU & Mobo: i5-4670 & Asrock B85M Pro 4 @ $397
Ram: Kingston 1600mhz value ram 4x2GB @ $76
ODD: Samsung DVD RW @ $21
SSD: Plextor M5 Pro 128GB @ $158
HDD: WD Blue 1TB @ ~$80
GPU: Powercolor HD7970 @ $496
Case: NZXT Phantom 410 @ $154
PSU: fsp raider 650w silver @ 93
OS: Windows 7 Home 64bit OEM @ $110

total ~$1575

Anything to correct? If using $100 2.1 speakers, worth it to get xonar dg sound card?

There's no need for a sound card for now. IIRC the mobo vendors are using much-improved audio hardware/drivers for the Haswell mobos.
What games are you looking to play, and what's your monitor res?

Roger, will try the onboard sound first.

I only play online games, usually MMO at 1080p. Neverwinter, GW2, ffxiv. Looking to keep costs below $1600. Is the psu sufficient if I OC 7970?

Hmm.. MMO at 1080p..

Maybe if you want, you can cut down to a 7950 and OC.

PSU can get around 520W/550W if you dun plan to do any SLI/Crossfire.

Xigmatek Midgard II will work about as well for a casing and cost $89.

Also, seconding the 7950 thing. IIRC Tom's Hardware tested Neverwinter and found it to be processor-bound even at the GTX650 Ti / 7850. FFXIV should be more graphics intensive but a 7950 should be more than enough.

Alrighty! many thanks for the inputs. Quick question about cash discount: is it % based? Just so I know to push for more if they shrug me off at "OK, give u $5 off" for a $1600 rig

EDIT: Nvm, I got a pretty good offer I think I'm taking, and I get to keep the 7970 and phantom casing!
