Is 256 GB enough for me to bootcamp win8.1 ?

Windows 8.1 Pro requires less than 40gb to install. I partitioned my macbook to only 50gb and i still have alot of space.

Config is about how much are u willing to pay and how much are you using them..

I dunno how to advise you if 256 is enough......

thanks for replying bro! i have another 2TB external disk which I would mainly use to store videos or photos or music itunes library. in macbook think i will only store projects and download files, and steam games. if 256 i would take 128 for win 8.1 and 128 for mac.

so 128 - 40 = 70+ gb for windows.
128gb for mac development projects, windows app, xcode, eclipse, .net, etc.

sounds ok?

Its very gd... price is gd too.. personally I feel i5 n 8gb ram gd enuf..

The i7 isn't worth it. A couple of percentage gains in performance only. No difference unless you use CPU intensive tasks very often. Read up on google on what others think, that's probably the consensus though.

I need that hyper threading for my programming work . Doing Xcode and parallel programming, mostly cpu intensive . But then I don't feel like bringing my work home lol

I should be using external had 2 tb for my movies and music libraries plus photos . The only thing I'm concern is if I could install my steam games into the external hdd and play from it, but then again it will be quite lag to play from external I think . If I split 128 for windows and if the win 8.1 pro takes 40gb I have like 40-50gb for game installation and saved data, 10-20gb for development work, good enough Bo? Not to mention I have another 128gb on Mac for development and also downloaded files plus temp files.

Sounds like a plan?

Can share where you get this price. You have not factor the cost of AppleCare to it. It would be good to cover warranty for 3 years. If space isa concern, you can always add a 128gb SDXC card to increase the space.

Educational price. Not buying AppleCare. Do you all really need Apple care? Default warranty is how long or default no warranty?

Adding sd card is a great idea man! Probably getting 128gb sd card like you said

Limited warranty includes 90 days phone support + 1 year hardware warranty.

AppleCare converts it to 3 years of phone support + hardware warranty.

And yes, get the AppleCare, things do fail after 1 year - you'll regret not getting 1 when that happens.

If you are a student of any local polytechnics or local universities, I would advise you to purchase direct from your school.

purchasing from school will end up being more expensive than the online store as school's vendor likes to throw in freebies that are not free after all, at least this is what happening to Sapura in my school.. HAHAS

usually if a household has a student, it doesn't matter who is the one paying so long there is one qualifying student for the purchase...

If i'm not wrong, Sapura have it's own extended warranty(5 years) for the school program. this is separate from AppleCare Protection Plan or the 1 year limited warranty provided by Apple.

The additional 2 year warranty is the only good reason IMO - not sure how smooth is the process of service though.
