despite they are healthy and fit to walk, do you take leave and bring them for their medical appointment?

I have both parents
I take either of them if they need. My mom I take 99% of the time , my pa he can go 80% of the time, once in a while if he can’t understand what they’re asking of him my bro or I have to follow or call n talk with doc on his behalf.

They fit n IF they don’t want u it’s ok, the problem why they want us is they aren’t familiar with the place n they are unsure they can get task completed like usual or not: this is your cue you need to follow them.

you can't be doing that if you are working full time ..
job hard to find nowadays.

So maybe you should explain to your parent since she is still healthy and fit.

Maybe only go if it's like a major thing like surgery discussion . if routine visit, then dont need to.

There will always be one children accompany. Especially those not so educated, don't know the what and what of the system. They feel more safe with someone around handling all those stuffs bah. Parent old liao, its one of the few times can really do abit for them.

All along I only got 1 parent. My biological dad ran off because he's a piece of sh*t. I might not be the best son but I have always stepped up to do my part as her son for as long as I am alive so far.

I think 30plus years of filial piety is more than enough as payment. Of course it's good she's still in relatively ok health now.

But even if my mom is gone suddenly, I won't be guilty or too sad. It's just all part of life. Then I won't have any worries too since I likely have a short lifespan.

When my mum was healthy, she would go herself. She's very independent, so it was never an issue. Mostly, it a routine visit to get her chronic medication. Of course, major ones like cataract, I accompanied her.

Once her health and mind started deteriorating, of course I will accompany her. Fortunately I retired real early, so it was not an issue.

They asked you to go / voiced their concerns or you auto think they couldn't do it? The receptionist will give you a doctor who can speak Mandarin if you tell them. Press machine all that can just ask the staff for help.
