This is not a myth. It is obviously what’s going on in SG as with the rest of the world. No other way to explain why ADs are “empty” all the time yet u see grey dealers selling new stock BNIB every month. This is a dirty game played by all the ADs and grey dealers. Blaming “flippers” or high retail demand is a lame excuse they expect kids to believe.

These greedy AD salesman are the ones causing the shortage in the first place. No doubt this practice is hurting Rolex and there are rumours from watch observers they are going in under cover to observe the AD salesmen. But it is an extremely difficult cat and mouse game.

It is not easy for the AD to get stock allocation from Rolex. They typically have to buy large orders of unpopular models from Rolex to get allocation for sport models. And any sport model allocation they receive is then “pre-sold” to the grey dealers by these salesman who as you rightly pointed out then split the “profit”/“mark-up” with the grey dealers.

At the end of the day it is genuine customers who suffer (for the largest part), then the AD, then Rolex - who are all getting fked over by these ** salesman. Even if it is petty cash to customers who pay double the MSRP I see it as a form of suffering, because u are enriching the AD salesman for nothing. They can happy happy buy their bmw or go siam diu find their siam bu and spit on your insatiable desire to own a rolex at any price.

Let’s get real about what’s going on and call it as it is. If you want to buy, you know the score and you know where your hard earned money is going.

Can help me dispel a myth?

Not sure if it was asked before...but are there instances where AD sell to grey, and they split the profits when someone goes to grey to buy a piece?

Eg AD sells 124060 to grey at 10,880...then grey sell to buyer at $16k, $5k profit share share?

Rolex says they want to clamp down but likely they are happy with the current situation where their watches are number 1 in demand.
For the consumers if you can disregard the RRP and treat it like a myth then your mindset will be much balanced.
Take it or leave it this situation has been this way for last 2 decades

Classic case of pricing error for the GMTs. Where the older 5 digits out price the newer 6 digits model. Both model discontinued.

greedy salesman/greedy AD starts from consumers who are dumb enough to pay over retail at first.

so it all started with customers going to AD, saying they're willing to pay 20k for daytona C in 2016.

any business owner that has a brain would take this opportunity to make money therefore this entire thing started.

blame the customers/consumers first.

i guess you're new to the scene with your statement

I’ve been here and in the watch scene long enough to know of ur rep around here. Joke of a collector/flipper. Own nothing and just get off by blowing ur own trumpet by putting down novices looking for sincere advice. I have nothing against the size of a collectors collection but smth against users like you. Not qualified to give any advice but want to butt in at every post and feel good by posting some holier than thou bs.

Been here long enough to also hear in the Rolex forums where the real collectors are, U stfu like a mouse. If u have nth to add to my post then stay away from my post thanks. Don’t need to expand so much effort to get 5 seconds of attention for every post here - 99% of which people are seriously not seeking your views cause they don’t matter, and people really don’t care lol. Take my word again on this. May be a hard truth for u to swallow but still true.

Lol. Sure

Actually 10 years ago and earlier, only daytona required a waitlist and going above RRP at ADs.. other sports models other than sub date usually could be gotten at a slight discount with ADs and a bigger discount with grey..

last time buying from grey was about getting a better discount and not about not being able to get the watch from AD.

Seemed to be poisoned by the Rolex daytona on oysterflex such as 116519ln, 116515ln, 116518ln, I don’t mind any configuration. If I walk in ADs today to ask for any of those models, is it too unrealistic and waste of my time?

No idea..If he has have nth to say, stfu and no one will call him a mute. Don’t see why is there a need for him to hijack every post to post unconstructive bs that no one cares for. The only reason I can think of is some inferiority complex or Napoleon syndrome.

I don’t know how he hides behind woman skirt but it fits the narrative and I’m not surprised. Care to elaborate more?

Higher chance than a steel model for sure. You may not get one immediately, but I think there should be an end in sight, rather than the fat hope of steel ones.

actually not true.

daytona has been seen in case multiple times here in AD back then.
Sports model like Sub Date can get 15% if you know who to look for.

however, yes you're right, grey discount is slightly higher if you don't mind it being a overseas set (actually not like local set is worth more, you just get the kick out of buying from a AD)

yes but you can try, you never know.

given the fact these are all trading at 2-3k above retail at the moment.

it's the second hottest daytona right after the steel
