Hey, I would like to send an old (80s?) datejust (16000? Not too sure, based on pics on chrono24 to RSC for servicing, can I just get a quote from them first before deciding to proceed?
Yes, they can quote you an estimate before you decide to send it in for full assessment with a details quotation. If you decide not to proceed, you would need to pay $108.

I remembered sending my day date for servicing quote and they recommended to change the bezel, dial, etc and they will not return you the old parts so I did not proceed as I had lovely yellow Stella refurbished dial lol..

I never leave the watch behind and always chat with the shop co-owner while he do the work at same time. Or I will take a look at some of their watches. They used to be one of the AD for Grand Seiko but have since more or less stopped after Grand SeIko started opening boutiques themselves. I think RX8 is ok, never have issues with it. It’s just that I thought of trying a different brand
My only constraint with rx8 is turning yellowish if kee in the box for too long. If it’s yr daily beater then should be fine..

My 14060M was bought with those RX8 stickers on! It does a great job of protecting it and I didn’t even notice it until after a few hours haha. Of course I peeled every stickers out. Tool watches are meant to be worn and put through the harshness of the environment. They’re not living room or IG watches. Wear them. Enjoy them. Give no shiets about wear and tears. My opinion.
Feels like people who put stickers on their watch don’t actually own it. They keep it in good condition for the next owner (in this case, you).

I go one step further, use as daily beater and polish it when it gets banged up way too much for my liking.

Buddy,

I had my Starbucks done with sticker protection with Gilbert. It takes around 1 hour. There’s a small sofa seat and you may sit there and wait.
I was told that I’ll need to wait for one day / 24 hours for the sticker to “settle down” after the stickers are well done onto the watch; there was a little bubble on the case upon finished and I thought it was a “poor” workmanship. Turns out that the bubble was settled after 24 hours.

I didn’t sit down there all the way because i had to take a dump 💩 hahaha!!

The intention of having the sticker for my Starbucks was because I want to protect from scratches. But now, there are small little dust around the edge of sticker areas. In my opinion now, I may not want to have stickers for the future watches..

But it’s up to individual lah~

if you had one RX8 before, you can try Gilbert / WS pro. Have a feel of different stickers..

Ah ok, so u had to either take their suggestions or decide not to proceed? Or can you tell them pls just service the movement and don’t touch the dial bezels and don’t replace anything?

I went Italy and the AD SA was wearing a Milgauss z blue which looks like it’s been to war lol. They really use it as a tool watch

You hit the nail on the head. When I got my sub polished, the guy told me Singaporeans very fussy, some even ask how many grams of metal is lost during polish (which is very little) while foreigners don’t give two shits, just come in and ask for their banged up watch to be polished.

It’s normal to have the bubble surfacing after watch is done. In 24-48 hours, it should disappear
