Bro, I think what we are trying is to say the "Watch" game rules at various AD varies and changes all the time. To get to your "goal" watch, u need to "level up", thus depending at which stage and level you are at, u need to get "exp points" before you get your goal watch (i.e Daytona or pepsi).
So you may find yourself stuck at certain level until you clear that level (i.e now is the hublot stage/level), you may never clear the level (if you dont buy to get exp points) and get the goal watch. (Unless you got cheat code- tagging on someone purchase history)
Yes, correct, the rules changes at different times.
1)Previously it was possible to get a Calatrava and be allocated an Aquanaut but now the min qualification is an Annual Calendar to be considered for allocation of Aquanaut. At this point, it is possible the rules may change anytime
2)It was possible to be allocated a less popular sports models eg YM40 SS as the first purchase with THG 2 years ago, but now is no longer possible
3)Previously if you are willing to spend more, you could buy a few watches and be put on queue for a few sports models at the same time, but now the min 6 months rule applies (technically it means the max sports model you can buy from the AD is 2 in a year)
4)Previously it was possible to get some models without needing to buy another, eg Skydweller Black/White. Now cannot and a few more others.
With regard to “rules” changing and having to “level up”, I find it pretty understandable. The demand gets higher but the number they get to sell remains as low (on some months, my AD told me that they get just 20 pieces of Rolex to sell, including the TT and diamond classic pieces for the entire boutique), so ”tightening” the criteria is unavoidable, they cannot please even the existing clients by sticking to the same set of “rules”.
i don’t work for AD but I know some people i met wonder why I’m defending their “rules”, but if one do a deep dive and understand the situation from the AD a bit more, it is somehow quite easy to fathom why they have to vary the rules and asking customers to “level up” at some point.
I know various customers have found it frustrating, they grumble why ADs “play” such a game and felt it is greed on their part to milk more out from their customers. But put it this way, they don’t get much Rolex to sell on monthly basis, if their sales person do not promote the sale of other models and brand to satisfy client demand in getting an allocation for Rolex, then what do they sell and how can they survive in the trade? Already I was told that two junior sales person have left this year at the boutique which I buy my watches at because the two sales person felt they are not making enough to feed their family,
