Hello all,

Anyone knows the price for a brand new Explorer 1? My bro jus visited a pre-owned shop and he was quoted ard $5000 for a 'F' series 114720.

Though i do not knw the exact price of a brand new ones, i got a feeling that the price he quoted- $5000 was quite close to a brand new piece....i mean too exp liao for a second hand explorer 1....

Any comments or anyone jus got one from AD or any pre-owned store can advise/ air their comments?

Thanks to all and have a great weekend!

New one will cost ard $5.4~5.5k but no stocks. I think the shop got another 'Y' series piece at $4.2k.

Quite a Rip Off. Can get a Y or F series at about 3.8k - $4.2k quite easily, unless the exp1 wave is hitting the watch market.

hi all fellows,

Thanks for all the reply for my eariler posted thread...Noted with thanks!
Eariler jus been to town with my elder brother and visited one of the AD in town and managed to bargain til $5200 for a brand-new explorer 1 for my elder bro...

He will getting it on Sat..... Any comments on this watch? Btw i had read the eariler thread by bro bengho and he commented that the explorer 1 is a 'scratch-magnet' watch...izzit true...?

I think the main minus point of tis watch is the lack of a date feature..I was wondering why can't the rolex designer add the date features as well.....hmmmm.....

hi coltish,

I dun tink is a good buy for a 2 yrs old Air king cos brand-new ones from AD should be ard 4k-4.1k after discount. You can get discount easily for this model...Hope this ans yr question.....Since the difference is not that great, might as well get new ones that comes along with a 2 yr warranty as well.

Do seriously consider my suggestion if u ur keen in getting a Air king!

good buy or not I wouldnt be able to advise, but a brand new airking is slightly over 4k.
For new one, you can choose from many many dial variation and 2 (I think ) bezel variations with box, paper and full warranty.

If you are getting that just for the sake of getting a rolex, then prob I wouldnt advise as it's not exactly the cheapest pre owned rolex you can find.

Since it has got no papers, how would you know it's 2 years old? By the serial number alone not too accurate. Went to this pre owned shop in beach road, was looking at a DJ, the fella told me it's post 2000 watch, but when I asked for the serial number, it's a 96 production serial number T series. So without papers, how would you know if it's really 2 years old? My explorer was dated October according to the papers but the serial number is D, last year production. So if I have the papers, I can prove that the watch is only 1 month old, but by serial number, it's already 1 yr old.

Unless it's a F series, anything older could be more than 2 yrs old. .....u get what I mean?

IMO unless that pre owned is the exact watch you are looking for, still can consider (price reasonable or not I dunno). If not, don't bother

From what I gather from this post, you would prefer a DJ or an explorer if you have the budget.
Try to look around for older watch at a cheapest price, cause most shops offer gauranteed buy back within 1 year at a certain percentage less, so end up, you wear 1 year and you feel like upgrading, you can. So check which shop offer better buy back rates. Why I say go for older ones, as long as model is the same, and condition is the same, nothing wrong with getting older watch if you have the intention to upgrade as depreciation is lower (you lose less after 1 yr) and rolex will almost definately outlive most of us. so no worries about the internals going old and spoil.

Hope you understand my blabbering.

a good website to see serial number and lots of resources.

HI Pew,
Any 2nd hand shops to recomm??
Thanks!

dunno also. got to look see look see ard to get the best price.

passions is reliable but on the expensive side
peng kwee is definately expensive, and their price is not net, still got to add gst after deal
beach road army market, the guy tried to smoke me
tanglin halt, the guy seems alright, but their servicing charge seems a bit expensive, but give good advise and not pushy, worth making a trip. But he dont have alot of watches on hand.

Take your time slowly choose, dont let the people hard sell you (This is important as there 1001 dial/bezel combinations for air king and i can assure every shop you enter, sure got pressure to buy) . It's a $3000 decision and the watch wont run away. Air kings are not in demand. If you think you decided, take down the model number ans serial number, go back and do research on the net. then make a decision) When you really really decided on which shop, which watch you want, bring hard cash there and bargain (try to bargain at least $100 down)
