Hello all - I'm new here.

Plan to purchase my first Rolex and been asking around for BLNR in SG, PH and HK - all no stocks.

Decided to join waiting list for some local AD and all said min 1 year and no guarantee. Not sure if I should wait or look for alternative.

Was also searching ard for non-AD seller quoted 2k more than Retail price, but as per AD the warranty will void so it's a risky choice I presume?

For a Batman, your only choice is really the grey importers. 2k premium whether justifiable or not really depends on you.

Warranty wise, I wouldn’t worry about it for rolex. Proven to last. I really doubt you’ll be the 1 of a million to land on a lemon. Just pay a couple of hundreds for servicing every 3years or so if you want.

authenticity wise, look at the recommended grey dealers. Should be fine.

My dad gave me a hardly worn 117234 Z series (data just) recently but the watch is too small for by wrist. Hence, would like to change to a 2nd hand "sporty" series but wouldnt want to top up too much (budget 2-3K). Any gurus here can adv what is a good model to start with as i am very new to Rolex. Thanks!

I would have said keep it for the provenance. But then you mentioned your dad hardly wore it and a Z series would be "only" about 10 years old.. But I still think you should find out the story on the watch and get your dad's blessings with you decision.

Moving on to your question, I think you should do some own research on which model you like first and foremost, then the eventual watch purchase would be more meaningful for you.

There are only a handful of sports model Rolexes to begin with, so no excuse: From memory, Explorer, Explorer 2, GMT Master 2, Submariner, Sea Dweller, Daytona, Milgauss, Yacht Master. Surf the official Rolex website for a start!

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply. I had already got the blessing from my dad to change to whatever model that I liked. And yup you are are spot on, my dad bought this watch exactly 10 yrs ago. Thanks again!

I have a submariner (no date) bought in April 1994. Not selling but am curious to know how much it can sell for today.

Depends on condition, whether you still have box/papers, full set of links. Can be quite a gem if the watch has never been polished.

U can visit some of the pre-owned shops mentioned on this and the watch thread and get some quotes. You can probably get 30% higher than those quotes if you sell directly to a buyer instead of to a shop.

sorry got the noob qn.

why no polish is more valuable?

also, is it easy to tell, on an older watch, if it has been polished before?

Polishing is essentially buffing the surface to remove scratches which is effectively 'removing' metal from the case/bracelet etc. A one-off light polishing probably has negligible effect to the naked eye but frequent polishing will affect the thickness of the case/bracelet or sharpness of lugs etc. And it can be very obvious especially when you have an unpolished piece in comparison.

If a 1994 (24 year old) Sub is unpolished (or even if it needs to go through a one-time polishing for purpose of the sale), there is a high likelihood it will look much better than a Sub that has been through multiple rounds of polishing, all else equal.

Any tudor owners

I have a sub but the tudor black bay looks way more refined without the tuna can bezel

Anyone here owns the black bay bronze?

Good day to all, what is a good price to sell a G series black DSSD without certificate and box? Minor scratches here and there less the bezel and sapphire glass. Thanks in advance.

Looking for a pre-owned Batman.
Anyone knows where to get at lowest possible? Seems Rolex Official Shops don't have it.
Also, going to Tokyo in Feb. Is it better to wait to hunt there?

ADs cannot but grey dealers can ma. Display outside means avail for sale? You should have grabbed it on the spot then.

Nowadays, it is getting tougher and tougher to get Rolex sporty series from any AD? As if for any ordinary public, it seems zero unless you are VIP or VVIP. Sianz. I am looking for a Hulk. Reseller quoted me $15.8K, simply speechless. Pre-owned easily at $13K.

So it's not hard to get. It's whether you are willing to pay for it. Supply and demand.
