Rude ppl no manners one juz ignore rah why buy from sum unmannered person who buys from overseas forums then markup hundreds to thousand and sell chiu

Not judging whether anybody is/isn't rude but fact of the matter is that so long as there is a system where some people are more privileged than others to gain access to the watches and there is demand, the grey market will continue to exist and thrive as a sellers' market.

Grey in itself is nothing new, just that the phenomenon of grey selling at a premium is probably hard to swallow for most. I believe Rolex's intention was exactly to put people off from grey. But hey, they are soooo damn popular that it's not working at all.

In the past, grey represented good value to get legit AD pieces at a nice discount through the AD-grey dealer 'black market'. Today this 'black market' is no longer about value but just to gain access to the pieces. To be fair, my sense is that grey seller's aren't making/marking up much more than they used to either.. They get their pieces at retail so obviously they would be selling at above retail to make business sense.

Then again I maybe wrong, perhaps the whole grey cartel is now overall more lucrative than before. Only the grey sellers would know..

Thank you for your advice, totally agreed. I have no problem for grey seller to markup any price as I believe they need to be rewarded for able to get in the watch. They may have to pay for shipment, insurance etc and they need profit to do that.
This is a willing buyer and willing seller arrangement.
When seller quoted me a $X price, I responded that I am looking at a lower $Y.I did not insist seller to sell at my price. But i was surprised that I was asked to "Stop Dreaming".
I am not complaining about grey market here. But want to comment on how certain seller carries themselves when they are doing business here. Lets all be nice and enjoy our watch.

Before you shoot any price that you're willing to pay.
Do some research and check market price and then compare and come out with a legit offer, that's if you're legit buyer.

It's like going to to a vegetable store where market price for beansprout is $1.20, this seller say I am selling 90cents super good price but you ask them 50cents is your budget. They also ask you go find others or continue to dream.

13k for brand new batman with stickers current dated.
I say I also need to day dream about it.
So make an legit offer then negotiable instead of giving a stupid offer/budget and expect negotiation.

:)

wow that's mad. will that likely be 1 of the new baselworld model that will command the highest premium then?

Ya. Last year was Skydweller and red dweller
2016 was DaytonaC.

Nowadays is like that. Long gone are the days where it's on the shelf retail and can ask for discount lol

need to offload my black new daytona C cause i got my eye on something else.
$245XX to whoever wants it first.
i think its at least 1.5k cheaper than local market price

Its mad because idiots are buying way above RRP for this watches.. Last time Greys can help u get watches at discount better then ADs and are more humble... Nowasday they are super cocky.. One way is dun buy from them.. Easy as ABC... Just a watch not some necessities and many nice watches out there..

End of the day. It's a rolex.
The branding already up there.
Masses brand.
You don't buy. Many others will buy.
Value retention is there. Almost like cold hard cash. But might take a hit.
But at least better than not being able to sell.

That's why ppl are so adamant about it.

AP royal oak. Retail 24900.
Walk out of the place - put 20k ppl also wanna hiam haha

it is not about whether the price will drop.. if ppl were more sensible and not buy above retail price.. the price would not shoot up.. however some models are more popular then others and thus more demand. If there are more sensible ppl in this world the grey would not have chance to "chop" u.

There are always that same few greys/ buyers of popular models of any brands of watches all this while and they are hoarding to the watches.. likely they are relatives or friends of the ADs and they try to benefit one another by the extra profit.

I would think ROLEX to keep the warranty card for the first owner and warranty is not transferable else void... to keep the price more reasonable...

That's just plain stupid for the last sentence.
Rolex branding success is also based on the excellent preowned market.
If warranty is void which doesn't make sense at all, price would probably be normalized but people will start start to jump ship to other brands.
And that's when other brands will use this as a weakness liao.

It's human mentality. I can afford to pay so I can get to wear first.
You cannot. Too bad. Then It goes on and on.

People should learn to control and dun support these scalping and flipping practice. There will always be a time when supply will catch up. 2015 and 2016 are those years that you can walk in to AD and buy those subs and SD. It will come to a point when the only people claiming these watches are hard to get are those grey dealers and flippers. This is the same case for most collectible items.

When a want becomes too much, any price also OK.
Simple as that.
Demand supply working it's magic here.
