Time for an upgrade!

Hi guys, my pc is 7-8years old and right now I can’t seem to boot it up.

The cpu lights up for a Sec with the fan spinning and lights up for a Sec and the fan stops.
Budget: 1-1.5k
My current set up is
Screen:U2713HM
Ssd: Crucial M500 SSD
Ram: Crucial 16gb ram
Case: Bitfenix prodigy
Mobo: MSI Z87I +I54670K (Light OC to 4GHZ)
Cooler: NH U12S
PSU: Superflower HX 600M
HDD: WD Green 2TB
Fan: BitFenix Spectre Pro 230mm
GPU: Gigabyte Windforce R9 290

Anything I can reuse? Absolutely have no idea what I am doing here haha

You need to troubleshoot what gg, otherwise hard to know what can be reused.

The best guess here is either psu and mb is gg.
Therefore, other than psu, mb and ram, everything else could be reused.

However, your casing is ITX casing, right?
Are you having space constraint at your place?

Let say I suggest to change to another gpu, I am not sure if the gpu would fit that casing either.

Mostly gaming. I’m quite happy with the monitor with no real need to upgrade unless there is a Super big jump in quality for a bit of money spent

Yes I am using an itx casing with space being an issue. Somehow i managed to fit the cpu in and still able to make it run for 8yesrs lol

Reset the BIOS

What often happens with old coms is the battery runs out, and people off the mains switch. Instead of complaining about wrong date/time like with older computers, the newer ones ends up with partially-corrupted settings that can't boot.

Or with some motherboards, just try repeated power ups and the motherboard eventually detects wrong settings and revert to default.

It's obsolete but can be reused if you so wish.

While it makes more sense to me to first troubleshoot the faulty part, if you do not want to do that then any upgrade will involve at the minimum CPU+MB+RAM. Anything else on top of that will depend on your budget.

Is your power point good enough for your current or upgraded system ?Throw away the trail sockets and use 2 power points with 2 ways sockets on each side. Else you're missing half the performance. Be careful that your system do not draw more than 13a 250v.

Since you are using ITX case, you are practically limited to ITX mb.
There isn't plenty of itx mb to choose from locally so there practically isn't much choice.

GPU: PALIT GTX 1660 TI - $410 @ Pc Theme (or TradePac, I think it should be cheaper, you must check price)

You can just reuse the cooler for the cpu.

Ram is much cheaper oversea than locally.

I usually don't recommend getting MB and GPU oversea due to RMA troublesome and these two statistically of being faulty is higher than any components.

You can use better GPU like Vega 56 or RTX2060 but note that you will always be limited by your monitor. I would recommend not going beyond RTX2060, even considering for the sake of future games, if you have no plan to upgrade your monitor.

I know. I also don't mind with overseas warranty since ram is not so easy to spoilt and less troublesome to send by mail for warranty purpose.
