Hey dleodleo, the coach from singapore to mersing will take around 2.5 to 3 hours and the ferry to Tioman from Mersing will take another 1.5 hours.

I'll be going over to Tioman this June and the above is told to me by the agent from Planet Travel. :)

Don't worry! It'll be definitely suitable for all ages. Although I haven't been to Tioman, I've been to other islands (eg. Rawa) and I've seen ang mo(s) carrying their little ones around.

Of course, it depends on which resort you're staying. Some resorts have their own swimming pools so the kids can keep themselves busy at the pool instead of the sea.

Its quite safe. But you would have to keep an eye for your 5 yr old. Esp when it is high tide if they are playing at the beach. Havent seen any animals harassing people there. =:p

If you're staying at Paya Beach resort, you can book a snorkelling trip at their resort for RM$35-60 per person. Depends on how hard you bargain, you could even go lower.

if u're driving i recommend going to mersing. parking with security (supposedly) is RM10 a night.
it's a relatively short drive.. 2 hrs i think can already. try and reach mersing early, like before noon, cos the ferries might not leave regularly after that due to the tide.

Never heard of pulua genting. IS it in Salang. Must be a new place how is it?

I am planning to go to Tioman later in June . have not been there in many years. Wonder how it has changed. How is the off shore snorkelling at Salang?

Pulau Genting is the 2nd beach u'll reach, iirc. Not in Salang. off shore snorkelling at salang not bad also...remember to bring some bread so that can attract more fish to come to ur side!!:s7:

hey guys, i wanted to book the Paya Beach Resort but drats, it's all fully booked!

so the next alternative, is either to choose another location on Tioman, or take the Tioman Paya Resort...

anyone stayed in the Tioman Paya Resort before? i heard its older than the Paya Beach Resort.. i think. its cheaper than the Paya Beach Resort.

wonder how are the rooms like... anyone? :D
