the hotel shampoo always make my hair very dry ...
same as u, if using their shampoo for few days, wont really have much damaged to my hair ...

In taiwan, some hotels used palmolive and lux for their shampoo and shower ...

Oh I still won't use hotel shampoo unless the brand is visible and its something I'll use. Otherwise I'll just buy normal shampoo (but sulfate and parabens free) from pharmacy. It's just that I've stopped bringing my salon shampoo and conditioner overseas...

But shower gel and toothpaste I'll definitely use hotel's though. Unless the shower gel is really bad...

do you all carry liquid such as shampoo? or go there then buy?

Depends on duration of trip. Those less than 2 weeks kind, if I have space, I'll pack the shower foam and shampoo. Trips that are generally more than 3 weeks, I buy when I touch down. Also depends on which place I touch down first.

Sorry, I seldom travel so my question may sound really noob.

I checked up Changi Airport website. we can only bring not more than 100ml. But can split into 2 or 3 bottles right? Btw is medicated oil counted?

You can bring a maximum of 1 LTR of liquid in total volume, but the bottles/tubes can only be max at 100ml capacity each.

i.e. you can split your 1LTR liquid into 10 bottles of 100ml and they won't bat an eyelid.

The bottle capacity itself cannot be more than 100ml, even if the present liquid inside is less than that.

Yes I think medicated oil is counted. I'm not 100% sure though.

Get the S lock. It's good for 'locking' your daypack.

It is easier for you to unlock your bag as compared to using a lock. It 'delays' the time for a thief trying to open the S lock (compared to having no locks) so you will be aware if someone tries to open it. There is a lock mechanism.

I used this on my daypack when I'm taking long haul buses/trains. I place my daypack on the floor and I'll know if anyone tries to open my bag cos opening the S lock takes a 'significant' amount of time as compared to having no lock. It makes it easier for me to take stuff out when needed as compared to using a number/key lock. I still use a number lock though, for different situations.

Before you go:

At the destination:

8. If spending twenty bucks is going to make something about your trip more convenient, just spend the twenty bucks.

Very comprehensive list & agree with them. But I feel this point no. 8 truly sticks out the most. Especially for holidays and all, you're there to relax & enjoy, so don't fret over the minor cost-savings especially if you're in Europe/Americas. The 'affordable' prices for Europe are often still higher than prices in Asia, generally.

So yes, even if something costs slightly more but it's more convenient, just go for it. Shouldn't be working your brains out or going a long detour just to save 20 bucks :s12::s12:

No I don't. If I have to resort to little tricks to save space, then I'm probably bringing too much. Anyway, my 32L bag always have more than enough space so I never have to roll clothes or use vacuum bags. Others may have different habits or views.

Do you guys roll your clothes? Does it really save more space?

For budget travellers:
1. As mentioned, bring less. like 2-3 pairs of tops/unders and 1 extra pair of bottoms. wash there. usually much cheaper as compared to paying extra for check in. Also, no one will notice if you wear the same clothes over there.
2. If afraid of bringing in too much liquid, buy Lush's solid 3 in 1 soap. Can use for hair/body/bubble bath. (especially if travelling for extended periods)

not sure if you have your doctor letter to prove you need the medicine for your trip, they might accept it ?? or they might still throw them away ?

normally when flying budget airline, I would bring my 500ml plastic water bottle, then pour out the mineral water.

then go into the waiting area , to refill my water ...

Some airport such as Bangkok and taoyuan, they have vending machine for customers to buy water, and then bring onboard your flight ...

For taoyuan airport, their mineral water is 20twd.
For bangkok main international airport, their mineral water is 30b ...

It's not likely for you to need 1ltr of medication. Just split it into multiple 100ml bottles if you must hand carry. Or check them in.

I do the same. If flying by non-budget airlines, you can also just ask the stewardess to fill up the bottle for you.

If budget airlines, I fill up at the waiting area if they have. I usually also buy a bun or snacks at the convenience shop before boarding as the food in budget airlines are bloody expensive.

8. Don't wait for someone to travel with - just go and explore the world!
Agree with this! If I will always wait for someone before I travel, I won't be able to visit all places I want.

My tips:
1. Put a contact # in passport so that just in case you lost it and someone found it, they can contact you directly.
2. Use non-cotton clothes, they are lighter, easier to wash and dry faster.
3. If you want to track all your expenses when you travel, you can try Monefy app. Really helpful and easy to use. Not sure if they have it in IOS.
