If planning for 10-12 days Tohoku itinerary, which is the best place to start?

To fly up to Aomori then go all the way down...or do a round trip from tokyo?

Any other recommended onsens with good views ie. nyuto onsen?

Depends on your travel period and your interest. 10-12 days wouldn’t be a lot since Tohoku is a very big area. Alternatively select 3-4 prefectures and visit more places in those areas.

Thanks all for the comment.

Is it quite foolish to go Tohoku in early december lol?

I think all the koyo would have dropped by then?

It's past peak in Towada/Oirase Stream. The leaves are now falling.

It was nice in Yamadera a few days ago.

It's pretty cold in Aomori now. Single digit.

I will visit Tohoku mid of December? Hopefully, can enjoy lots of snow during my stay in Akita and Aomori. I will do a round trip from Tokyo. Intend to purchase the JR East Tohoku Pass for the coming trip.
