I know it's not cheap. That's why I said I'm looking at Tokyo station's hotels too, since it's nearby compared to shinjuku.

You can consider the suggestion from gumbokins. The hotels around Tokyo Station are generally not cheap as well. More expensive than in Shinjuku.

Can look at Hotel MYSTAYS Maihama, can walk to DisneySea. That way if your mum is tired, not too far to go back to rest. https://www.mystays.com/en/hotel/urayasu/hotel-mystays-maihama/
good reviews on Tripadvisor plus got massage chair lol they have shuttles but only in morning and PM but if take taxi also wont be to ex.

last 2 weeks of April looks to be low season (based on Apr 2017) so I think you will be ok in terms of crowds. I won't really do Disney on my first day but I would rather visit on a weekday than a weekend.

I still think Disneysea is nicer...really more for adults. Disneyland is more for kids.

i went to ssrr the hotel and im impressed by their customer service chat!! he's very helpful with the questions i'd asked him :s13:

$150 for 1 night (3 pax) is good, somemore it's 8mins walking distance to disneysea. thanks for introducing!!

For adults, I'd recommend Disneysea as well but as you have been there a few months ago, you can let her decide which one she prefers. Both has rides that caters for both adults and kids but Disneysea has more of an adult theme to it. Disneyland has more restaurants with shows but need reservations.

For stays around the park you can check out the nearby hotels like Hilton, Sheraton, Nikko, that offer much cheaper rates. I can't remember the price but it's much cheaper compared to similar hotels in Tokyo. You can reach the park by its monorail.

Just take note that "it's a small world" ride may be undergoing renovations in Disneyland. Some rides on the western side of the park may be closed, next to tomorrowland.

due to the time we're reaching tokyo and the time after checking in (luggage at hotel lobby), it would be ard 10am when reaching disneysea. i didnt watched any shows during my trip there months ago, all these need to q for 1-2hrs like the rides?

Hope it works out for you! Closer to visit check the crowd calendar so you can plan your park strategy :) maybe might miss out on the popular rides but there's still so much to see and do and eat!

In terms of food there, I rmbed I only visited their bakery shop and tried their bread/coffee. Any specific "restaurants" or carts that's a must try?

they got a lot of nice snacks...the popcorn flavours, the green alien mochi. some ukiwa bun that always got long queues.

some table service restaurants only have priority seating...counter service, eat at cape cod and can watch duffy show. we only ate at Miguel's El Dorado Cantina and Ristorante di Canaletto on our last trip coz only they had vegetarian/seafood options. got budget eat at Magellan's

No queuing allowed. They need reservations weeks/months in advance like http://www.disneytouristblog.com/mickey-company-diamond-horseshoe-dinner-show-review/. The reservation process used to be much easier but now it's purely in Japanese and you need to "adopt" a Japanese name in hiragana in order to book online. Another way is via the hotel concierge.

If you decide on Disneysea, you can check out the curry+rice delicacies at the Arabian corner. The interior deco is very nice. If you're into sandwiches, the NY deli just before Big Band Beat theater is not bad. If you want to avoid long queues, just be sure to eat 1hr before the usual lunch/dinner break.

yea i read that the reservations are opened exactly 1 mth before the ETD at 9am for the shows. is it only required any japanese name in order to book? any other details? im thinking of asking my japanese colleague (based in sg) to help me haha. we need a japanese address too?

Have a look at http://www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/help/tds_priorityseating.html with reservations required beforehand. If you are staying in a hotel, you can ask your concierge to book. If you ask your friend, perhaps can use your hotel address and phone number. Columbia and Horizon Bay (with character) dining should be popular. Your friend may have some local tips to share.

Although I have not tried, Cafe Portofino seems highly recommended as well for their roasted chicken. Pop corn buckets are seasonal but it looks like this year should be Nemo/Dory theme due to the new attraction.

Usually you can email the hotel concierge and let them know the specific restaurants and time/seat preference. Disney affiliated or partner hotels shouldn't have a problem with this. You don't have to be there but it's good to let them know in advance how far ahead is required to book.

Popcorn buckets always rotate one. I think the next big one will be when Star Wars Ep8 is about to be launched.

The best website I've come across is http://tdrexplorer.com/category/merchandise/. It doesnt have a list of buckets but it will show you the seasonal ones like Halloween, Christmas, Star Wars, etc. plus useful tips and news.

With that website, the crowd calendar and weather forecast, that would be a good homework before your trip.

white chocolate is a xmas special, iirc
I can remember curry, soy sauce, honey, chocolate, strawberry, white chocolate, milk tea.

the latest popcorn bucket is the Nemo one, I believe. But your April visit should coincide with Easter so you should be looking at some great and super cute merchandise!

Priority Seating info: http://www.tokyodisneyresort.jp/en/help/tdl_priorityseating.html

although i think on slower days, you can go there in the morning when the restaurants first open to book for a later timeslot.

as for asking the hotel concierge to help you book...I think that is only for Disney hotels? If you can staying at MYSTAYS, I think they won't be able to help? you can try calling to book..they will connect you to either a translator or an English speaking staff.
