hi.

Will be flying to tokyo and flying back by osaka. Would it be advisable to buy a JR pass or a one-way trip fare.

Planning to head to kyoto and osaka, and probably a day trip to Nara? Not really into temples etc but dont mind going to see for a while and zao lol.

Been to tokyo, but have not been to kyoto and osaka. Any kind souls willing to share their itinerary for kyoto and osaka with me? Just spending 5 nights maximum for both places.

it is more worth it to get single ticket since u are travelling one way only. the one way ticket from tokyo to osaka is about 13000+yen, whereas the JR pass is 28300yen

u can find sample itineraries and trip reports in the sticky-ed threads in forum. that shld give u some idea on the places to go.

Some suggestions for you

For Osaka:

Minoo park (half a day probably if you intend to walk all the way to the waterfall)
Osaka Aquarium (half a day at least)
Universal Studio (whole day?)
Kobe (Nunobiki/Kobe Teppanyaki, half a day)

For Kyoto:

Fushimi Inari (half a day at least if you intend to go to the summit)
Arashiyama (half a day)
Kinkakuji can go on same day as arashiyama, quite near
Gion
Kiyomizudera

From either cities:
Nara

You can consider see if there are any other nearby cities you can visit or not.
