I'll be travelling in September with my grandmother and teenage brother who loves shopping. On one hand I love eating sushi and sashimi, and I've never been to Tokyo. On the other hand, thinking of the street food in Taipei makes me sooooo hungry...

Sight-seeing wise, I'm tired of visiting temples and land formations, the main focus of the trip will be eating, relaxing and maybe a little gadget shopping.

Which place will you choose and why? :D

Since u have never been to tokyo n u like shopping n jap food, u should go there.

Shopping in Tokyo is actually really good. Huge variety n not that pricey either.

Jpy is weak now so the sgd can go further too.

Tokyo will have a lot more stuff to see since you never been there before. Taipei is more for the cost and language similarity.

japan has much better food than taiwan. and you need to go to yodobashi once in your lifetime if you like gadgets. not sure about the relaxing part though.

Tokyo....since all of u haven't been there. But food wise it depends on whether your grandmother and bro like Japanese food or not

Both!

Check out vanilla air and fly peach. They're budget airline that flies between taoyuan and tokyo. You can also consider booking multi-city SG > TPE > NRT > SG on scoot.

Otherwise Okinawa is a good alternative too. Very near to Taipei.
