Since u been there for a few times and summer is unbearable for u. Go Australia is better choice. The airfare tickets for both flight are almost the same anyway.

Personally I will avoid travelling to a country where it is having the same hot season like SG.

Quick trip for Melbourne advisable? 1st time there. Might be able to take 1 day leave so 5 days all in

Tokyo and Hong Kong in August are hotter and more humid than Singapore. Wear jeans confirm underwear also wet. The air conditioning on JR trains, subways and even underground passageways will not provide sufficient relief. Might have to consider bermudas and polyester-cotton tees to keep yourself cool.

Weather here right now is quite bearable, very windy right here in Ikebukuro now. Didn't even find it hot when I was walking under the sun earlier in Yokohama, the wind just took away all the heat

Shinjuku was at 30 degrees Celsius at about 8 pm earlier.
Sendai was worse in the afternoon.
Hakodate was okay last few days.

Just came back not long ago.

Honestly I haven't sweat so much in my life. I guessed the humidity there is worse than Singapore. :(

I was in Hokkaido couple of weeks back and it is already very hot. Wearing T-shirt and shorts and already sweating buckets. Once we return to our rental car, we immediately full blast aircon there

Watched the news there and apparently got people die in Tokyo's heat. Really no joke

But Hokkaido is nice to visit during Summer as it is the season where the flowers bloom.

summer last year was quite okay, apparently considered a 'cool summer' by the locals

this year was really terrible; i showered more than 5 times during the weekend at home (got no AC, only one powerful fan to blow at my face)

heat is okay but humidity is worse than Singapore, felt like 101% humidity

The silver lining is that summer is Japanese peach season. After a hot sweaty day walking around, back to hotel and sink teeth into a juicy cold sweet peach dayummmmmmmmmm shiok.
