Tomatoes cost has increased so much

I love tomatoes and keep track of their prices.
Yes, it's been expensive recently. I stopped buying and buy carrots instead for the vitamins.

Last week just cooked chili crabs. Used almost whole bottle of tomato sauce. But no fresh tomatoes. Yumm. Leftover sauce for spaghetti, yumm

Ntuc is selling at $4/kg yesterday.
Before covid it was less than $2 per kg.
No wonder hawkers r shirking down the portion size of tomatoes for fish soup. Indian curry that uses lots of tomatoes would cost even more ...pasta , sandwiches all using fresh tomatoes. Soon food cost would go up. My family loves and consume lots of tomatoes in a month. Sianzzz

Bought tomato at ＄2 per kg from the grocer beside kovan hawker center. Size about 250 gm each. Shengsiong selling similar looking but smaller tomato at ＄3.50 per kg.

Shengsiong selling the carrots at slightly cheaper price though.
