Tools for system checks

What software tools or utilities you guys use to check through a system to ensure all parts are OK?

Check RAM, HDD, SSD, mobo, CPU, PSU, FAN etc.

For example HDD can check SMART status.

Any Linux Live DVD/USB that allows one to do this check without booting into Windows?

What do those Sim Lim Square technicians use to do a quick check or run through on an entire system?
