I'm also using the same model, what is your battery life ? Mine only attract about 100 min with wifi on and only surfing internet.... :s11:

Mine craps too, even at power saver mode and disabled fancy aero features.. i can only squeeze out 2hr max.

The support site also sucks, posted a BIOS 1.80 version but cannot download.

Haiz, to think that I used to rate Toshiba Notebook highly....

I'm using this model now. CHeck it here:
http://pc.toshiba-asia.com/news/index.jsp?newsid=150

The part no. is actually PSMC6L-01D004

The specs can change tho...
I'm using the upgraded 2GB RAM from Comex.

I'm also disabled this aero craps and on power saver mode, LCD brightnest at level 4. Have you disable another craps - Toshiba's Flashcards ? I leave this on as default startup programs... if disable this craps and can "compensate" me for another 20 mins on battery life, think worth it.

Hmmm...no R500 users here? Been reading some gd reviews about it. But would like to get some feedback from actual users.

Am thinking of getting the R500 from NTU? Any ideas is this would be a better deal than getting it from elsewhere? ie at coming SITEX etc...

Thanks.

hey there. I'm a R500 user from NUS. Been using it for almost 1 semester already, very stable and highly recommended.

Decent speed... considering its size w/duo core 1.2ghz. (Not exactly slow IMO, i'm quite happy with it)
Battery life approximately 3-3.5hrs at low settings.
Speakers sucks... only 1 side mono speaker.
Memory, only 1.5gig, but you can boost it with a 4gb SD card.... that's if you believe Vista's ReadyBoost technology ;)

GFX not very good... can't play certain 3D games like battlefield 2. But should've expected it sincethis is not a gaming notebook..

The best part about this notebook is its weight. Weighing only 1.1kg, I sometimes have to double check my backpack to see if my notebook's missing!

sitex doesn't sell this model. this model quite hard to find. anyway i'm also using it, it's good cause it's very light, but it's hard to find a demo to try. I got mine from NTU and the display set was locked inside some glass casing. You should check out the screen cause the view angle is quite limited, see if it suits you.

Toshiba M200 series don't come with recovery CD, you need to "burn" 1 set by yourself...think 2 DVD will be sufficient

Double click the Recovery Disc Creator icon on the Windows VistA desktop to create your Recovery DVDs.

You need to pay for the product key.
