Touch ID not working

Factory set! Looks like I have to send the device to Apple centre.
Its 8 months old. Hopefully they can replace a new set!

Same thing happen to my 6+
Called technical hotline.
Asked me to backup and restore iPhone using iTunes.
Restore = download and reinstall IOS.
Did that and it bricked my phone. iOS install halfway and stopped with "unknown error" msg.
In the end, got a replacement via Apple express replacement service.

Finally find time to send the hp to Wheelock service centre! Most likely I will get a replacement. Gosh! Apple device doesn't look reliable now.

But I have to wait for 3 -5days for the replacement.

Guess with all this stress I need Botox...to get rid of my uninvited fine wrinkles from the Handset!

No oily hands lah!

A precaution.
If your touch id is faulty and your phone is out of warranty, never do an iOS update.
It will brick the phone.
IOS update somehow requires a working touch id

I usually stop the charging before I sleep.
But that night I forgot and the phone was charged overnight.
Next morning, touch id spoilt.
Wonder if that was the cause, since the touch id is close to the charging point?

Called tech support and tell them I want express replacement service instead of bringing down to the service centre.
Called on Sat, received the replacement phone on following tues.
I got Apple care, so service is free.

But if apple concludes that nothing is wrong with your phone they will be charging you full price? Because my 5S battery becoming very bad. 83% capacity left and still got warranty left

They will run some diagnostic remotely and advise you accordingly.

Nothing to do with overnight charging, Last time my 5s & now my 6+ charge overnight every night everything still ok.

Sometimes even if you slightly scratched the glass on your touch ID, it won't work anymore.

Touch id is made of sapphire crystal. Should not scratch.
Anyway, this problem is caused by touch id hardware failure.
The touch id totally spoilt.
Symptoms are: in Setting, recorded fingerprints all gone. When try to add fingerprint, there will be an error msg. Double tap will also not work.

Sometimes even if you slightly scratched the glass on your touch ID, it won't work anymore.
