I noticed there is no thread for this Malaysia App eWallet.

I am travelling to KL/Genting tomorrow, boarding bus at JB-Larkin. I plan to use public transport in KL, mostly, so I plan to go and buy the Touch N Go cards. I also realized the Touch N Go e wallet app can be used for topping up the Touch N Go cards and also to scan and pay QR codes.

Also I managed to link my FSMOne Debit card for quick pay. FSMOne has 3.5% cashback promotion for Jun. So I plan to use this setup in Malaysia. I didnt convert any cash. I will use my Trust ATM card to withdraw cash in Malaysia if needed, hopefully wont be needed.

Anybody can share their experiences with this app/card and anything I need to make note of?

Thanks in advance!
Hopefully tomorrow morning not much jam at the causeway, lol.

You can only top up TnG card using the app if the card is the NFC version, not the standard version.

And to top up the NFC card, it needs to be present with your NFC-capable phone. It will read the card to confirm the top-up.

Thanks! Do you know if the wallet top-up transactions qualify for cashback with FSMOne debit card? The transaction description says finance. I noticed that there is 1% spread, so maybe not so worth it doing top-up using fsmone card.

Trust card seems better.

Done with our 5 day KL/Genting trip, had an awesome time.
Here are some tips:
  1. In KL, the difference between Grab fares vs public transport fares is not a lot. We were 3 of us and in many cases, the public transport fares were more than Grab fare. For example; Imbi station to KL sentral is like 7RM by Grab vs 3.6RM per person by monorel.
  2. They have many varities, monorel( which they call MRT), LRT is our MRT, then KTM Commuter is like slow train. The connectivity between different modes is not that great and frequency is not great. We took the KTM commuter to Batu caves and the frequency is once in 45 mins! and Grab fare is like 15RM. But we had lots of time with us and wanted to explore public transport, which I feel is the best way to understand a city. Although it is a lot of waste of time and waiting.
  3. For some reason, even though we bought the NFC Touch N Go card, I couldnt top up via the TNG ewallet and it kept throwing error as invalid card details. The NFC was working, becaue it correctly showed the card balance. But top up not working. We kept topping up at the customer service and didnt realize there is 50Sen fee per top up. Also minimum top up is 10RM and you need to have 5RM minimum balance to start a journey. Most journeys cost like 2RM to 4RM.
  4. Most places accept credit cards. It is only very very few shops who said they dont accept credit card and there I used the TNG wallet. I used my trust debit card to withdraw cash from ATMs. There was no fee charged. Only at 1 Maybank ATM, it said there is 15RM fee, so I didnt withdraw there. I withdrew at AMbank, CIMB and many other ATMs no fee.
  5. We went to Pavilion, KLCC and Berjaya Times Square. We found Berjaya Times square the best for shopping. Pavilion and KLCC are both upmarket, Gucci, Prada kind of shops, total waste of time. At Berjaya I bought Lee Cooper leather sandals for like 25RM and my wife and daughter too bought a lot of clothes. Near Pavillion there is shops called Farenheit which is nice for buying clothes.
  6. We found Malaysians very kind and helpful and really loved the place. We too a bus to a small town called Lanchang near Temerloh, about 2hrs away from KL and wanted to go to the Elephant Santuary at Kuala Gandah. We got down at the bus stop the elephant santuary is about 14 kms away and at the bus stop there were only 1 or 2 restaurants and no other shops, nothing. We asked the restaurant if there is any taxi to go to the elephant santuary and they said there is none. But the lady there was kind, she called her brother and he offered to help us. He had an old rundown Proton Saga, must be atleast 20 years old, lol. He dropped us and then picked us again after about 3 hours for total 60RM. I didnt have cash to payhim and the TNG wallet didnt work on his QR code for Druid pay, he drove me to the nearby petrol bunk and let me withdraw from ATM.
So overall really great trip!

Yes I tried that way multiple times. I am guessing the issue is, although I registered the TNG cards under my passport and also the TNG app is fully verified under my passport, maybe because I am foreigner, there is some glitch related to kyc or something.

Nice trip. Now you know in Msia except for city area once out of it almost zero public transport like the elephant sanctuary you went to. That is why most Msian own car or at least a motorbike. For work in city they park outskirts then take monorail etc into city. My spouse former Msian so I experience it all their way of life. Sporean very fortunate in comparison.

Anyone know how to withdraw out from touch and go e wallet for singaporean?
Send the money to your frens, i'm sure they want it if the rates u offer are favourable.
If you can't send MYR on TNG, then probably you won't be able to withdraw anyways.
* Transferable vs Non-transferable balance.
