Why are cyclists becoming the hated lot these days?

On the road they don't stay in a single line on the left, but on the pavement they expect pedestrians to do that.

This one probably thought he's protected by an invisible armor.

Many cycle in the middle of the lane, or haphazardly.

Some even chit chat in a group taking up the entire lane, without a care in the world.

Meanwhile cars have to siam them.

Worse if you go small road and encounter one of them pedalling away while a whole entourage of cars need to drive at 30km/hr behind them to accomodate them.

Fair to say, most of them are pests of the road.

in the video .. the cyclist seems to have 'right of way' on the road, even at the turning, he follows the lane marking.

Pedal cyclists are supposed to keep to left edge. Logically at cross junction they shld cross traffic lights twice instead of cutting/weaving from lane 4 to 1 and do a right turn (which they need to weave back to pane 4 again to be on the left). Which is dangerous.

The issue is the rules are too grey and permissive. LTA shld review properly. I seldom see errant cyclists 5-10 yrs ago. Recent years very rampant....

NO. If u read highway code, turn right at cross junction is under segment for motor veh not cyclist. Similarly, under cyclist segment highlighted rules for using bicycle crossing and pedestrian crossing. Plus the first rule to keep left edge when possible.

While they are poorly written, cyclist were never intended to behave like cars or motorbike to swing to lane 1 to turn right. They are just lazy to cross the L shape and wanna cut diagonally....
