This is from tplink. Tech reply

MLO is still a gimmick feature, and the trouble it brings is far more troublesome than the insignificant gain.

If you want high bandwidth, 6G 320Mhz is almost enough for everything, so do the low latency.

Combine 6G and 5G is a good option, but no client support that because they do not designed to have separate 5G and 6G antenna and FEM in the client side.

That means most of the WiFi7 client which claim support MLO, they only support to combine 2G with 5G or 6G.

2G is a **** in the physical level due to high interference and low speed, add a **** to the faster WiFi channel won't make everything better, it will only make it worse.

Like if the 5G jumps back from DFS channel to NON-DFS one, the 2.4G will be the only option in the MLO connection, what if your client want to get a high speed and low latency network, but connect to the 2.4G as main channel there? It will be a disaster...

Thanks a lot for your valued feedback and understanding~

Hey guys, I'm planning the network layout for my new BTO, after reading on what everyone had posted, I've decided to do a small mesh network with 2x BE230. Flat is about 93sqm and I'm using M1 2.5 GBPS plan. My BTO also has Ethernet ports built-in in every room.

9TVTcXt.jpeg

  • First BE230 will act as main router at DB box
  • Second BE230 will be connected via wired backhaul
  • Connecting my TV via ethernet port
  • Connecting my PC via ethernet port
So my questions which I hope to get some answers from are:
  1. Anything wrong with my plan, anyway to optimise it?
  2. For the main BE230, I assume I should use the only 2.5gbps LAN port to connect to the 2nd BE230, and use the rest of the 1 GBPS LAN ports for TV and PC?
  3. Is it better to place the 2nd BE230 in bedroom 2 instead of master bedroom?
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Looks decent to me, I have the same layout and before I shifted the Ethernet port to the centre of the house, I was using a similar set up except my AP is in the middle bedroom coz I wanted wifi in the toilets when I chit in the morning.

Anyone using their easymesh solution ? Is it reliable ? BE805 pair with BE230.

The satellite BE230 should be connected on the WAN port or LAN ?

You can keep using the RT-AX86U+RT-AX56U AImesh combination, and configure the 2.5G port of RT-AX86U as the WAN port.

No point to get ROG GT-AX11000.

For setup of Ethernet Backhaul, connect Archer BE230 LAN to Archer BE805 LAN and wait for a while for the setup to finish.

After the setup, I believe it does not matter any more, but I will suggest to change to Archer BE230 WAN to Archer BE805 LAN.

Will connecting to BE230 WAN port cause double NAT?

No.

Once EasyMesh setup is done, the slave Archer BE230 should be in AP mode.

Mesh with Ethernet backhaul --> slave runs in "AP" mode with wireless setup managed by the main node.
Mesh with wireless backhaul --> slave runs in "repeater" node wireless setup managed by the main node.

BTW, TP-Link EasyMesh is not so mature and much worse than TP-Link Deco Mesh as of now. But it may well be okay for you since you can use Ethernet Backhaul. Wireless backhaul may have more issues.

Are you using Wireless Backhaul or Ethernet Backhaul?

If wireless backhaul, RT-AX86U+RT-AX56U is not that good as both units are dual band wireless router. HB410+HB410 is not good either as it is also a dual band wireless router.

Triband mesh solution will be better, cheapest is probably to get two HB710 untis from Starhub.

Do you mean like
During setup: Modem → WAN BE805 LAN → LAN BE230
After setup: Modem → WAN BE805 LAN → WAN BE230

Do you suggest the same for a simple 2x BE230 setup?
i.e. after setup: Modem → WAN BE230 LAN → WAN BE230

I am thinking of signing with Starhub 5Gbps with HB710 as the main node in my living room and 2 HB410 as wireless nodes in 2 bedrooms. Would that be enough? just need to stream 4k movies and gaming in my boy's bedroom

Yes.

You may want to change the word modem to ONT.

Fibre modem --> ONT
Fibre modem router --> ONR

Hi Folks! Just recontracted my republic gamers plan 10gbps, was recommended dual tp link be 805 to use in mesh. Scanning this thread seems like I made a wrong choice? Anyone has any violent complaints so far? I was thinking maybe I should have gone for the Asus be 25000 instead. Will it work if I put the be25000 at the blue circle position?

I just recon to 5gbps plan. Do I need a router that has 10G port to get the 5gbps speed?

Currently the TP-Link HB611-SGST router provided only has 2.5G port.

Yes, you need one with 10Gbps WAN port or 5Gbps WAN port. There are very few routers with 5Gbps WAN port so it is better to buy those with 10Gbps WAN port.

From Singtel, only option is TP-Link HB810 (dual 10G ports, dual 2.5G ports, triband BE22000).
https://www.singtel.com/personal/products-services/broadband/eform/wifi7
[50% off] 1x TP-Link HB810 BE22000 WiFi 7 Router (worth $799) at $16.80/mth
+ Free Weekday Installation worth $91.68

But you can choose cheaper options like TP-Link HB710 (dual 10G ports, tribend BE18000, dumped by Starhub users, at S$192 from Starhub but Carousell BNIB units are cheaper at about S$180) or TP-Link Archer BE805 (dual 10G ports and quad 1G ports, triband BE19000, dumped by M1 users at around S$300 BNIB).

Compared to TP-Link HB710, TP-Link Archer BE805 has better wireless coverage and more LAN ports, but it is bigger and more expensive. Archer BE805 may also be a bit better than Singtel issued HB810 in terms of wireless coverage.
