The answer is yes. But OpenNet will be the one doing it not the ISP.

i am using MyRepublic as an example cos i am more familiar with the process,

You have a TP point and using Singtel and sign up with MyRepublic (a new ISP)
there will be 2 appointment.

Appointment 1 OpenNet will be going down do take note and do not be pissed if they did not turn up it maybe due to the following few reasons, they do not need to access your unit and can get the thing done. or they totally never turn up at all. If they do not turn up, immediately ring your ISPs, (if MyRepublic, ring up the Authorised Partner if you sign through them.)

Appointment 2 ISP will come and install. (Do note that if Appointment 1 is not completed, appointment 2 cant proceed)

Hope it helps

Frm what you posted was TP activation. That will cost u sgd 200. And for TP point release u no need to pay a cent and opennet no need to came down. And for my case, previous on Singtel. Now I switch to MR on 2nd port. 2nd port activation sgd 200 was waived by MR. For my 1st port actually it's still tied by Singtel. Others provider cannot use that port unless released. Mean I need to install new TP if I want to sign on m1 or starhub. This new installation will cost sgd400.

There's 2 port at the TP. You can use the 2nd one. If both port is used up then u might have probs. Sometimes ISPs dont want release port coz the port is money to them so their customer can't cancel line with them n have no choice but continue service with them. I got prob with the port release thing. Got pushed around by ISP n Opennet then in the end got to know the culprit is ISP.

i think there's a min period contract between opennet and the isp. previously activate 2nd port also must pay extra $. at least now no more such issues.

i remember i had this problem when i cancelled the m1 fibre trial before 3 months was up. i wanted to sign up singtel fibre and they wanted to charge me extra for activating port 2.

m1 said they informed opennet to terminate, but singtel said opennet informs them the port is still being used by m1. so how?

i gave up and sign up adsl instead and wrote to ida. some singtel guy called me a few months later after ida referred my letter to them, but no point since i've already on adsl.

does this problem still exist? i notice lots of ppl using port2 without paying extra $

Yes. U need to pay for 2nd port activation. My case MR waived it. It cost sgd 235. That was because that time I still on Singtel and MR was installed before I terminate it. Like m1 promotion, u need. To pay for activation. And now my case was like no port to use if I want to sign m1. The 1st port was tied by Singtel. But I called opennet, Singtel should release when I terminate it. But now seen like this provider also don't know this kind of problem exits.

Call Singtel, they say m1 should liaise with opennet.
Call m1, say Singtel have to release it.

exactly the reason why i ditch red camp because when problems come up, getting them to fix things will make your blood boil.
m1 wants your business, so they should have already checked.

i think the time taken for opennet to update their records when the port is released will take awhile, whether the delay is on opennet or st? i don't know

such is the state of NGBN :(

IDA can help on this?

can try, but don't expect a fast reply.

anyway you need two isps?

Because i plan to cancel my MR due to some others reason and i find out M1 was cheap. Since my both port was activated, no need to pay for activation for OpenNet. Will try involve IDA if they cant solve it.

If you have port 1) with mr and port 2 unused then no need pay for it.
If you have port and 1 and 2 being used. Then you break contract on one of the ISP before 12 months. You will need to pay for the release. It's due to the contract between ISP and NC.

Port 1 tied by Singtel that I terminated on April 2013. 2nd port used on MR.
Port 1 if Singtel doesn't release, other ISP can't use it.

U need to pay for 2nd port activation unless ISP have a promotion to waived it.

For my case, my first port was used by starhub, then when I sign up singtel, they activated 2nd port at no costs.
