TradePac or PCThemes

I still prefer TradePac as I think its products are slightly cheaper and I am quite patient. If you are impatient, I think you can choose PC Themes instead.

i read the whole thread and seems like some customers encourage shoppers to buy from TradePAC except letting them install. Will keep in mind your suggestion. Thank you.

From a retailer's perspective it makes more sense to buy each item from the shop in SLS that offers the lowest price, IF your aim is to save $. The grand sum saved from this compared to buying everything at 1 shop and hoping for a discount, will be higher and guaranteed.

However, if what you prefer to save is TIME (which equates to $ as well), it makes more sense to shop with 1 retailer, AND 1 distributor. The distributor is important as once it's sold, the remaining 3-5 years' assurance is with the distro not the retailer and since TIME = $, RMA'ing ur entire box maybe simpler and faster than RMA'ing a single component.

Yes, this is very true, but i am a noob at PC assembly, anywhere i can find honest and professional service where i can send the components that i purchased separately from different stores to help me get it assembled? (for a fee of course) I heard it costs about $30 if i am not wrong but not sure which are the more reliable shops in SLS. Can anyone advise?

I think my only challenge is that i duno where the wires are supposed to be connected to and worry that i connect the items to the wrong pin and cause damage. The only hardware in the PC i can install i guess its only RAM and GPU becoz thats really like remove and install i cant go wrong.

If for a fee of $10 PCT or TP can assemble for me i think its fair ba. But i will go google for a full dummy guide first maybe it isnt as difficult as i assume.

The casing fans sounds like quite simple from what you describe i think i just buy as necessary and install on my own. The HSF need to install prior to mounting the mobo to the case right? i watch the tuto vids seems like it.

This thread is very helpful to me for my coming purchase next month and i appreciate and thank all whom feedback and assisted me in my queries.

usually you just need to read the motherboard manual, it will illustrate to you where to connect each individual wires.

I think Fuwell, PC Themes and Bell are reliable enough.

Bro, I was like u, scared damge/explode blah blah. But as long u get good quality/renown components, the chances for hardware faults is not high.

- For hard disk LED for casing, let say u plug the +/- wrong, motherboard wont get damage, at most no light, just swab the polarity will do!

- For the rest of the plugs to motherboard via power supply, it's very idiot proof. Can plug means correct, cannot means wrong socket.

Objective of building computer yourself isnt solely just getting it work. It's getting yourself more familiar with the PURCHASED COMPONENTS. Hence, you will know whats going on; which mean EASIER TROUBLESHOOTING next time when there's BSOD/fatal errors

damn i just watched a 45mins vid on assembling a comp from scratch by NeweggTV on youtube. Seems like doable. I guess i will try to assemble one by myself using purchased parts from TP and PCT for once in my life on my next payday.

Backup plan: If i really screw up how? Still $10 for assembly by PCT?

then
u slowly dissemble parts by parts then put it back again

most likely is whole system.
they giv me more discount than that.
if u visit them again and they remember u = more discount

I know what I want to get already. But how do I ensure that the goods they give me are not short of any parts? Maybe a screw or two, some pins, manual, etc. Maybe their box is opened before? How can I check? I would very much like to patronise PC Themes, but price is an issue to me.

I don't go to the extent of opening every box to check. If you're not having your rig assembled there by them, you should be fine. I've bought many components from them for my friends' rigs and for myself and I've actually been pretty satisfied so far.

Just make sure you check that the components they've picked are the ones you've chosen to avoid any disputes later on.

IMO, not really a nice move. Nonetheless, it's your choice. You can ask PC Themes to price match a few items to Tradepac price. But don't bother to ask them price match the CPU & Mobo pricing because it's not possible to do so.

This much I'll say,

For any component except CPU+Mobo, all other shops can match/undercut Tradepac depending on your closeness/relationship with the shop and your bargaining skills. If you want to buy from them, it's okay if you do your homework and are an attentive customer.

Why only CPU+Mobo people cannot match them you might ask; you can find it somewhere in HWC about their business operations as to why that is
