Is there a point in wanting him to get an i5 or at least a i3, alongside with a better PSU, for some future proofing? I'm not too sure about the performance of G3220 as compared to an i5. Is it significant at all? Would it affect him if he ever want to play games like Guild Wars 2 or D3?

For gaming, I thot most would recommend i5 or at least i3, and 750Ti? But the 300W PSU may not be able to tahan I guess.

Even if you know your stuffs, tradepac is a no-no. Shady business practices and annoying salesman. Their price seen from the pricelist also cannot be any lower.

PCT is the way to go for everyone. Don't expect them to give you lower price if you don't ask for it

Guild Wars 2 you need at least i5. Game engine optimization is BAD, even decent CPUs struggle in big fights.

Im thinking of dropping the SSD from moneyface's recommendation, then throwing in the money at a better PSU and CPU, and maybe a slightly better GPU if the budget allow.

Whats everyone else's opinion?

His budget is $1000 or so. Monitor not required. Play League of Legends and some random non graphic intensive game. Would prefer to buy from PC Themes as my friend have not much knowledge about these and i dont think i'll be going with him so i dont want him to get whacked badly...

Buy and build at PC Themes. PC Themes charges a fee for hardware installation. Can't really remember the fee, i guess it should be around $15-$20.

Core i3 and its hyperthreading is not advantageous for these low-end games....

300W PSU is enough to cater for such Core i5 system with up to a HD 7850 (leaving yet enough power headroom).

Still cannot beat my less than 2secs boot up.

Anyone got experience to share about tradepac??

I got none but when I was there some dude requested tradepac to repair/install something on his laptop...the day I saw him was the day he went to collect...he requested for a screw driver to open up the laptop to see inside and found out that they installed other RAM for the guy instead of the one he bought...

Read somewhere in a thread tradepac like to swap out the ram u buy from packages if u never check properly, u lose.


Anyone got other experiences with TP to share??

Keyword: NEW. New only. Try again when user fill up C:\ with programs, pictures, videos and other sh*t just after a week of normal usage. Oh yeah, Win8 fast boot doesn't that when you click to run a program it'll launch immediately snap-ish like an SSD.

Not just boot-up that's down on SSD; program installation, win updates, file transfer, IOPS (big killer), 4K random read, bla bla bla.
