Difficult to work unless everyone is in the same skill level trading the same strategy.

Mmm... disagree.

If I'm trading cable, I want to be able to hear what the euro's doing, and I want to be able to ask the options guys if there are any big barriers out there. If I'm trading oil and gas equities, I want to be able to hear what the equity index guys are doing (and maybe what the energy guys are doing). And I want to be able to sit and toss around ideas with other traders: "mate, have you seen what Intel's doing today? What do you reckon, is it a buy?" "nah mate, you didn't see the news? it's gotta be headed lower" "oh right, good spot".

Quite true. ... Especially if you have a trader who has a consistent track record. I would ask his view whether to go long or short. Whatever he says. Just do the opposite cos he is the leading indicator and consistently wrong! Sure make$. Lol. :s13:

The reason banks have giant trading floors (you've seen the photos of UBS Stamford, haven't you?) is to facilitate the free flow of information.

But you won't get that effect simply by pooling a few folks together. More likely to blame each other for problems or take advantage of each other. Typical human selfish behavior will come out.
