If I just walk in and buy CPU + mobo, will I get the listed combo price or do I have to top up? If top up, how much?

I compared the prices with PCThemes and they seem to be about ~10 bucks different. If I have to top up $20-30, the differential goes in PCThemes favour...

Note that I do not have anything else that I wish to purchase at this time.

Walk in, tell them what you need and ask for discount. I have never left TP with purchasing at listed price before. Heheh.

iirc, PC Themes price is usually without any catch or condition attached. WYSIWYG and straight forward.

But TP one you have to read carefully. The price quoted for the cpu+mobo bundle is only valid for a full rig.

You can try asking TP and bargaining first. If they die die want to force u top-up then walk out and go PC Themes lor.

Well, the mobo I prefer is only available at TP, and PCT is no longer bringing in that CPU anymore (Ivy B gen). A bit LLST.

I have seen threads before that say that TP does not sell the CPU+mobo bundle at listed price without other purchases. That's why I ask.

TP will charge a small $10-$20 extra on only selected mobo + cpu.

There are certain mobo + cpu they don't bother charging.

So at the end of the day you will need to go down and ask.

Is it safe to call up TP and ask for availability? I can trust PCT enough to do that, but TP? I don't want to call and be told that it is "available", only to find that it is "out of stock" when I arrive, and then get recommendations for something else...

I think that it is more like Tradepac to say ''no stock'' when you called even though there is stock and sell the same item to someone else who came first. It would be better to just go there without calling and ask for it since they will be more motivated to answer your questions properly if you are already there to buy something.

For me i will usually call and check, and also ask for their rough estimation of stocks availability. They certainly wouldn't want to lose anymore of their remaining reputation by not selling anything from doing that don't they?

The thing I dun like TP nowadays they put many items pricing as ON OFFER.
Then expect you to tell them what price you want.

So make sure do homework before buying from them.

Even for single item? I don't think they give lower prices if you buy the mobo (without CPU), but they seem to be fine with giving lower prices for hdds and other peripherals (dunno about GPUs, since I don't have life left to game).

They do. I bought router, GFX and SSD standalone all cheaper than their listed price. Just go and bargain as I already replied you.

Depends on whether you're frequent customer or not, their mood for the day, and whether they see your face song or not. If buay song, then too bad. :(
