Actually alot or most Korean movies whether good or bad, art film or commercial film have theme of social inequality or bureaucracy treating the small man like shite

compare his cinematography to the 80s 90s hong kong movies.. his movies look bad in comparison. the only good parts are relatable (?) plot, use of dialect (not common nowadays) and some comedy moments
