I believe if you’re asking how to migrate WhatsApp messages from Android to iPhone, you should not be going back. So root it and transfer is not going to matter much.

I just used Backuptrans yesterday to transfer WA message history from Samsung to X. No need to root, you just have to follow the steps to that includes disconnecting google drive if u r backing up WA to it now and backup locally. Then uninstall or disable the WA. After that follow their instructions to set Android phone to debug mode and install a modified WA. You’d probably need to spend half an hour to do that but it’s worth the effort as you get every of the messages and video/photos back on the X. Cost of Backuptrans is about $33.xx SGD.
