Transfer Windows 10 to new SSD

I have Windows 10 Home version currently installed in my PC. Can I check if the Windows 10 Home version in my current PC is able to transfer and activate in a new PC (with new SSD)?

Checked under the Settings > Update & Security > Activation, it shows "Windows is activated with a digital license linked to your Microsoft account."

Do I have to use the product key or can I use my email address during activation?

You can reuse licence. When you log in to the windows website, you can deactivate the existing one. Just log into the new computer and it will auto activate, when they ask for key during installation just skip.

If it's an OEM key, might need to rebuy.

Back to same PC is fine. Find some of those utilities like Acronis to clone your system from hard disk to SSD then switch the disk to boot up from SSD.

In short, if you are using an OEM version of Windows, i.e. one that comes in a white cardboard envelop or one that comes pre-installed in a system, and you are trying to use it on another computer with a different motherboard, then it will not work. If you are reusing the motherboard, then I guess that should not be a problem.

I am using a retail version of Windows 10 Home.

Will be using a new PC (with new motherboard and new SSD as primary drive).

To confirm, during installation and activation of the Windows 10 in trhe new PC, I just have to log into my microsoft account?

If your retail version is tagged to your account previously, then you must sign in to activate.
