Hi, could anyone recommend some good travel insurance companies to purchase from?

Was using moneysmart to compare across and what they offered are quite similar! I only have a $50 budget for 14 days travel so it's either from hong leong, qbe, amex or tenet sompo.

Any advices? First time getting travel insurance and wanna get the best bang for my buck but also want hassle free claims from a good company.

Thank you in advance :)

If using Citibank credit cards to purchase air tickets, they offer free travel insurance

Can check out NTUC's travel insurance too, if nt wrong they are giving 30% discount now. Depending on what you want to be covered, u can always compare using their pdf brochures. :)

I Dropped my gopro clone into an osaka river during my last trip, and came back trying to claim. But was told equipment was not covered. So I learned my lessons of picking the cheapest insurance available at that time and not reading the fine prints.

It depends on how u submit your claims.. read the fine prints (policy wording) to understand ur rights and u will stand better chances to make ur claims.. At least i managed to claimed mine

Some travel insurances, like those complimentary 1 from credit cards, or those that was being sold directly by airlines are not as detailed as those offered by insurance company. For instant example, luggage delay payout. 99% of those free or sold by airlines's insurance cover you up to 500$ for every 8 hours delay while insurance company pay u up to $1000 for every 6 hours delay. Etc etc~

travel fair usually have promotions for insurance. the 2 travel fairs are just over, but promotions may still be available.

i usually go for ntuc income coz it is easier to claim. large company usually more lax with claiming. so long as u have the necessary documents/recipe, can already.
i ever bought insurance from some small insurance company. even with a letter from airline for flight delay, they still ask for reason for delay and want us to get more information from the airline. dragged for months before finally getting our $100 claim

I bought Aviva Travel Insurance for my two trips, since family members of people with existing Aviva policies (I think the SAF one counts) can get a free automatic upgrade to Travel Plus.

The only thing is that you have to be careful with the dates selected when you buy the insurance, because they don't allow changes. If you need changes you have to apply for a refund and reapply for a new policy. Not too difficult though as they will mail you a check for refund after a while.

I buy my travel insurance right after buying plane ticket and booking my accommodation.
