Trip Report - May 2015

Hi all,

Back from my Tokyo trip a few days ago (2 May - 9 May). Not a solo trip this time, but travelled with my travel buddy J. Am in the midst of preparing my blog entries for the trip, so I would post up links to my blog instead of typing entries here on the HWZ forums. (so I can upload those 6MB pictures on wordpress instead of the hwz forums, haha) :x

it's a 8 days 7 nights trip, concentrating mainly in Tokyo and a few day trips to Disneysea and an overnight in Hakone.

Got the portable wifi device from japan-wireless.com again, self-collected from the post office at the airport and delivered it back on the last day with the prepaid envelope that they provided.

Stayed at a few different places: a business hotel for the first two nights (Grand Fresa Akasaka), Hakone hot spring hotel (Palace Hotel Hakone), and airbnb apartment for the remainder of the stay.

Flew by Scoot again.

thanks for the compliment,

when I went there, it was supposed to be the tail end of spring. however, its was in the low to mid 20's in temperature! :x friend there said the weather felt like summer.

haha interesting. probably it will be more like cooling to us!

Travelled in May once and didn't like the weather. Afternoon quite hot and can wear polo but at night is chilly and need jacket. So it's neither here nor there.

Nice blog. Brings back memories. Anyone has any idea how much lead time is recommended to book the front seat of Romancecar shinkansen to Hakone? A friend told me it's at least 3 months in advance.

thanks for commending! yes! i know right, as I type out the entries, I feel the memories are coming back to me, hehe.

front seat? as in the observation window area? for my trip, I just bought it on the day itself. but it wasn't the front front, i was like at row 5, and row 1 is in front.

Summary: Day 5 was a rather chill day; had brunch at Matsuya, spent the rest of the morning and part of the afternoon in Ueno Zoo, did souvenir shopping at Tokyo Station's Character Street, and dinner and more shopping at Akiba.

Day 6 was at Disneysea.
