The Flaming Mountains in Xinjiang, China, are famous from the 16th-century novel Journey to the West. In the epic tale, Sun Wukong (the Monkey King) and his group must cross the blazing mountain. Wukong borrows the magical Banana Leaf Fan from Princess Iron Fan to put out the fierce flames.

The thermometer shows the temperature. It was 46°C the day before. We went yesterday which was not that hot.
