I have added my google calendar to both my iPad and iPhone with no trouble. However, when I open my calendar on my mac and and click accounts I can see my gmail account with email and messages already set up. But, when I try to add my calendar to iCloud it trys and try then gives up.

I even deleted my entire google account and then set it all up again. It seemed to work...then said calendar has a problem.

Any suggestions here?

Thanks for tips!

Please confirm which calendar service are you adding to your mac, Google or iCloud?
Both have their own calendar service, best you check on your iPhone and iPad to see which calendar service you are using. I have a gmail email address however i use iCloud for contacts/calendars eventhough my icloud address is my gmail email address.

- Once you have confirmed, go to System Preferences -> Internet accounts
- Select the Service on the left(Google or iCloud)
- Make sure calendar checkbox is check

Please report back full error message here if you have trouble after doing above.

Asriz,

I'n trying to add google calendar. I use it for my iOS devices already.

I do go to Internet accounts, I click on the box and it just spins (apple's version of the hour glass). Nothing happens. In fact, I don't even get an error message this morning but I think I got vague messages yesterday. If i get an error message later I'll let you know.

Fyi, the gmail and iMessage boxes are already checked. I can uncheck and then check these boxes with no trouble at all. I just can't get the calendar box checked.

Thanks for the reply.

Sometimes it's just because you have a lot of events on your google account so it takes awhile.

Before anything, just make sure your system is up to date, software updates usually fixes some issue that you are currently having.

1. Quit all applications that are currently opened and open up Calendar app.
2. Press Command key (⌘) and Comma keu ( , ) to open up Calendar Preferences
3. Go to the Accounts tab
4. If your google account is present on the left, try enabling it from here.

If the problem persists, I would then do some isolation.

- On your mac, create a test user account in system preference -> Users & Groups
- logout of your current account and login to the test account
- skip all the setup(icloud)
- try to add your google account here and setup calendar.

Let me know what happens in the test account.

Asriz,

Thanks again for you detailed help.

I do not have all that much on my google calendar. So I doubt that is the problem. I did try to turn everything off as you suggested, opened cleaner and preferences. What is see is iCalendar only.
I click the + to add google calander. I then click the google logo and then continue.
My name shows up and it asks for my gmail address (the one linked to g calendar). I have typed in my address and the password ( I assume they want the pw to my gmail account right??)

I have done this several time now. Usually both the email and pw go blank immediately and I mush retype them. I even typed the wrong info in to test and the same thing happens. But I'm sure it write. I can log into my gmail and g calendar with no trouble. A couple of times i got a red error message saying some thing like "password can't be confirmed at this time".

I have not had a chance to try the last suggestion of yours.

this is crazy. I've never had this kind of trouble with google or iOS devices.

Testing in a another user account is common troubleshooting step in OS X because different user account have different preference file.

if the issue happens on a different account, it means it's a system-wide issue therefore the problematic file is in the root location instead or you might have a network issue.

Testing for network is easy, just turn on your personal hotspot from your mobile device and allow your mac to connect to it and test.

Hi.
Just tested the other user account and I seem to have the same issues although it's not totally consistent. With some gmail accounts it said "can't verify account and/or password" But on the main account (the one I want to add... both the email space and password space blanked out.

Btw, you mentioned personal hotspot. The last week or two I suddenly cannot hook up my iOS devices to make via personal (wifi) hotspot. Before it worked fine. Does this give you a clue? Or if its unrelated do you have a suggestion?
