Hi all, my rig recently keeps randomly freezing hard on probably any condition:

- Win10 login screen (if left idle long enough).
- Desktop, browsing on Chrome.
- Gaming.

The only way to restore is to hard reset, and sometimes after pressing the power button to reset, it doesn't POST and just sits there with the case fans spinning the LEDs on my keyboard and mouse lit up. If this happens, after waiting for say an hour and powering up, it can power up.

A few days ago I used the Zotac Afterburner app to max out the GPU voltage (100%) and power supply (120%) settings, and underclocked the mem and GPU clocks by 100Mhz, and now it's stable. It has been stable for a week.

What do you guys think? Is it a GPU problem or a PSU problem or both?

Doesn't show on mobile, and might not be accurate (like mine, outdated liao). Plus it's best to also know the age of the parts

I have similar issue, wiith my nearly 10yo pc... Mine used to freeze, bsod and black screen like yours..so my guess is most probably either faulty ram or the ram slot (but for my case, both are faulty). I have 4 ram slots but only 1 is working now. If you do not want to wait 1 hour to boot up again for black screen, you can turn off main power supply, spam power button to flush the remaining energy and try removing ram and place it back in again...usually works for me

Recent new symptom on my pc is that it simply switched off if left untouched for ard 10min. My solution is to simply play a YT video in background to prevent random shutdown, no idea why or what is the issue, though it still occur sometimes even with the YT video.

Sorry man didn't know mobile ver was a thing, very long din use HWZ liao Updated main post with rig info, plus age, which I think is same as the CPU @ gen 6 and GPU release window.

So far I'm not getting bsod, but did get blinking black screen with the panel going into power saving/no signal mode then back to game, then back to black, then back to game; or is hard lock with looping sound if gaming, or hard lock on desktop including frozen mouse cursor.

In my case seems strange if is ram issue.

I've tried Furmark GPU and CPU burn tests, both are ok they run without crashes, which makes me even more puzzled.

I read online about changing the tdrlevel for the GPU to 0 due to some timing thing between the GPU and Windows 10, but it didn't fix the issue.

Also due to the monitor blinking in and out of game/no signal mode, online suggested it was a cable problem, where the DP cable was switching between DP 1.4 and 1.0 due to bad/damaged cables, but I switched cable as well as switching to HDMI cables, but didn't fix the blinking issue.

The only thing working now is the Afterburner power overclock plus mem/gpu underclocks. So after a week of stability I'm thinking either PSU not pumping enough juice or GPU not pulling enough juice.
