Troubleshooting random screen flashes

Hi guys

I built my desktop a few months ago (Dec 2016) and have recently started to notice that my screen will flash a random color every once in awhile.

Not really that recent, but due to the flashes between extremely short, less than a half second, it is quite hard to make out what the flashes are and when they started.

Another thing that makes it hard to diagnose is that it seems to happen at random times.

When I'm playing games, when I'm surfing the net, when I'm just watching videos or even reading ebooks.

Things I've tried:

- initially thought it was the game i was playing, uninstalled the game but it still happened
- removed and re installed GPU driver (Latest)
- reseat GPU
- re-inserting the HDMI cable on both ends

Things I've not yet tried
- Isolating HDMI cable
- Changing HDMI cable
- Reseat GPU to lower slot
- Remove GPU and run on intel graphics
- If all of the above fails, test each stick of ram by removing 1 by 1?

My Specs:
MSI B150 Gaming
Zotac GTX1070 (The smaller edition, forgot the name)
2 x 8 GB Corsair 2400mhz RAM
Samsung Evo 840 250GB SSD
1 TB (forgot what brand) HDD
Super Flower Leadex Silver 550w

Power source not clean and prone to interference. (eg. Ppl switches on and off something, you will have this flashes.)

Another possibility, your monitor have issue. Have you tried with another monitor to see if the problem persisted?

you are talking about those random red circle flashes?
only when i overclock gpu and it's not stable then this will happen

I don't think it's a circle, it seems to be of different colors, but like I've mentioned, it's for a split second only so I can't really tell what it is /:

I didn't OC my GPU, or any of my components at all though.

Try switching on and off something. Or ask your family/house mate to help you try. When they switch on/off, the monitor will flicker black then back on again. That's when power source have leakage on the earth wire.

If your card was bought in Dec 2016 (Zotac 1070 Mini) it might not come with the Micron memory stability bios fix preinstalled. Might want to check this out.

Does it have to be specific items? I've tried switching on and off the fans, lights and aircon in my room but nothing happens though.
