Just applied for the Trust cashback card, any idea how long the physical card takes to arrive?

As I am going Japan soon, if i dont receive the physical card can I add it to google pay and start using it overseas?

TIA!

Yes. That's what I did.

Using in Google Wallet while overseas before getting the physical card.

Is Google wallet and Google pay the same thing?

Also does Google Wallet and Pay transactions need roaming data for it to work?

Sorry very Noob in this matter.

TIA

An overly simplistic answer to whether Google Pay and Wallet is the same thing.... yes.

As to roaming data, I never tried without data, so cannot say by experience. But I Googled and found this article. hope it helps.

google pay will work without internet connection. it is like using the physical card offline. This applies to apay and spay too.

This is not true, after a certain number of transactions (5-10) you'll need to new token for your tokenised card. This is what makes it more secure.

You do not need an active connection usually when making the tap though.

So what is what? I think we r referring the tapping part in the 1st place.

How many times have you tapped it? The token is usually valid for up to 10 completely offline transactions.
Apple Pay is like putting a supp card on your device. The 10 transaction limit is set by the bank.

For me as well, Google Wallet needs an internet connection after around 3 taps, no matter which card I choose in my Google Wallet.

That's because Google Wallet needs to work across Android devices, most of which don't have a secure enclave.

I will try offline in Japan next week as well, see whether it works.
I off my data just now and it works at a London cafe.

Anyways, it's good to have a physical card with you, just in case.

I've experienced times where Google and Apple pay just won't go through. In the end, the merchant suggest to use a different ecard or a physical card.

My physical (YouTrip) card normally solves the problem.

Around 5 most of the time. So 10 is the max? 10 is already a lot of times until someone can find an internet connection. Thanks.

Think it might be a Visa limit as opposed to bank because it failed for me across banks, though I've not tested with MC. Applies for Apple Pay too.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I just found out about the 1% Cashback card a few days back thus physical card wont arrive in time.

I will try using google wallet for the cashback card, worse case I will use the physical Trust Link card which I already have.

  • No, you can easily withdraw cash from your account by selecting saving account at ATM even though your card is paired with credit card account.
  • Please select savings account for cash withdrawal from your Trust savings account.

Trust Link card confirm can be used for overseas Trust Bank savings cash withdrawal
Cashback card not sure as i got conflicting information from different agents
I can confirm that withdraw cash overseas using Trust cashback card incur no cash advance and interest fee when choosing Savings Account. Trust make sure that there is enough money in the savings account. Tested with AEON ATM (0 ATM fee) in Japan

Savings account why have additional fee?
I think the question is if you don’t have savings accounts but pay in advance to the credit card, does withdrawal incur additional fee.
