The cheek of her to say that. Tell her you're disappointed in her for putting her own interests before yours.

sometimes I wonder, should financial literacy be introduced as a new module in high school.

Back then I also blur blur, but luckily my parents control all my finances before I grad from uni. Now I'm 30+ and more financially literate, I could escape all these pitfalls

It's funny when someone is interested in 'financial planning' and 'protection for family' all the so call financial advisors swoop in like vultures to a prey.

When someone said they are over insured and wish to lower their premiums, non of the so call pro advisors come in to help.

buy what you need, not what the agents want

so far, most of the investment products (endowments, ilps and whole life) out there are useless

think about it. you are putting your hard earned money in the hands of the "professionals" and "experts" like the insurance agents and fund managers, you should expect above market returns right?

even if deduct fees and comms, the avg returns u get shld not be below mkt returns

most of the pple are under-insured because they are sold whole life, endowments and ilp for the insurance coverage :s22:

then agents use this point to say they are under-insured when in the 1st place, pple shld get term life for adequate insurance coverage instead of being sold these useless plans

see how cunning agents are :s22:

Fund Managers have fiduciary duty.

Insurance agents are not held to same standards.

To me, that's one clear & significant distinction.

Depends on how long the policy is active, you can appeal for a freelook, even it is after a few months, no harm trying your luck.
Or go to customer care and make noise. Customer is always right.

Aside to it,
if it is a small amount, it should be fine, but anything above 200, is not something worthy. It also depends on your plans after NS to work or study. To study, please consider as you may not have enough funds to cover unless parents are chip in.

Do you mean after the free-look period, Insurer will entertain extending free-look ?

In insurance, I am afraid the only thing that is always right is the policy wording.

Even small amount on a useless thing is a waste. I dont like waste.

Agree no harm trying but TS already terminated.

TS, heard that Pru is very aggressive in road shows. The female agents like to participate in the road shows at pasir ris because they can get the naive NSFs to buy when they book out. I think it is really unethical as the allowance that the NSFs receive is already so little, if they really have the heart to help them, they should advise them to only buy such products when they are financially more stable. As for insurance coverage, they should be getting the aviva ones as its really cheap and affordable. Some of these NSFs will be going to uni after their NS, how are they going to sustain such endowment plans, in the end they will be forced to terminate and lose even more.

Perform a good deed by letting your NSF friends know this is their operatus morandi and to study their own financial status carefully before they sign on the dotted line. I'm sorry to say but I really despise these agents who target these poor chaps who are not financially savvy.

Hmm, if you have a valid reason eg overseas during free look period or hospitalized ?
