Does anyone know whether the market will be opened on 4th and 5th Nov? Acc. to the website, it says 築地市場のみ臨時休市日 for 4th and 5th, is that because of the previous planned relocation date?
What time should I reach there if I'm keen to watch the Tuna auction?

Not likely to move, the new site is a major problem now.

Last time few years ago need 3am or so to queue. But recent years so popular i heard maybe midnight can start to queue.

Not worth it. better get more sleep.

frankly, the auction is the most overrated part about the whole place. just sleep in that extra 4 hours and watch this youtube instead.

If you watch those videos of tourists waiting for the tuna auction, hardly anyone looks happy. Compare this with minutes before Disneyland open lol. I can imagine the rest of the day will be really tiring due to lack of sleep.

Hello Peepz,

Tsukiji market is closed on every Sunday right?
Does the whole market closed or only tuna and/ or wholesale area is close?

Thanks!

I left my accommodation at shinjuku at 3am in the morning and had to book a taxi there.

Interesting experience but it's even more worth it as I was really early and can start queuing for the famous sushi bars at 630am.
